Beaverhead Crops Expected to Exceed Past Records
Abundant water for irrigation and plentiful rains have growers in Beaverhead County optimistic. Alfalfa is being cut with 15 to 20 percent more to be stacked than last year, wild hay yields look strong in the Big Hole and surrounding valleys, and peas, beans, and other crops thrive while the range improves. Early Day Judge of Bannack Dies
Charles Retallack a longtime Bannack justice of the peace and rancher died at Barrett hospital Sunday evening after a brief illness. Born in Pool England March 21 1851 he came to America as a child, worked as a blacksmith, and later moved across the west before settling in Bannack. He is survived by his wife seven children eighteen grandchildren thirteen great grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral services were held at Grace Methodist church with interment at Mountain View Cemetery.
