Dell Rancher Dies After Brief Illness in Beaverhead County
Alexandre Peyre nearly 25 years a Beaverhead resident died at Barrett hospital after a brief illness. Born in France in 1885 he moved to America as a youth, naturalized in Idaho in 1916, and later ran a ranching business in Dell with his brothers. He is survived by his daughter Adele in Bakersfield and two brothers Ernest and Stevens of Dell. Funeral held Wednesday at 10:30 from the Catholic church.

Old-Time Resident of Big Hole Passes
Mrs. Nettie Lawrence pioneer ranchwoman of the Big Hole basin died after a lingering illness last week. She was the oldest continuous resident of the basin's lower end, settling on a ranch near Bowen in 1888 from Dewey, where she and her husband Blackwell Lawrence had lived since 1882. Funeral held in Wisdom with interment there.

Impressive services for Bruce Joe Metlen Beaverhead county representative and stockman drew hundreds at Grace Methodist Church in Dillon last Friday. Rev. J A Meeke led the rites joined by Rev. Charles Briwell of Denver. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery with Dillon lodge No 16 A F & A M conducting graveside ceremonies. Out of town attendees included state officials and representatives from Helena Deer Lodge Great Falls Anaconda and Billings among others.

U S Survey of Daly Dam Site Approved
The U S Bureau of Reclamation will survey the Daly Spur dam site south of Dillon within the next year. A feasibility study could lead to diverting Beaverhead river irrigation for up to 100000 acres, with 150 foot dam height storing 192800 acre feet for seven non irrigation months.

City engineer Forrest Bayerd says work on Mountain View cemetery begins around July 20 with a $20 811 WPA grant for irrigation upgrades, a 70000 gallon cement reservoir, pump house, arched entrance, fencing, and landscaping. Jail Holds Pair Facing Con Charge
Sheriff captures Roy King and L. D. Haggland near Bannack for allegedly selling Seattle lottery issued summer homes in the Big Hole basin. They face charges of obtaining money by fraudulent representation as residents were warned in April about the scheme. The suspects reportedly sought deposits of a third of property value to secure homes. They may have operated in Idaho since departing last April.

Experts Inspect Dillon Potatoes for Psyllid Pest
Isaac of Bozeman extension horticulturist and J D Pletsch entomologist from Montana State College visited Dillon last week to inspect local potato fields for psyllids. No evidence of the pest was found yet conditions were not mature enough for a full check. The pest has caused damage in potato areas across the state for several years and the related purple top disease is known as psyllid yellows.

Recreation Camp Set To Open For Girls This Week
About sixty girls from the vicinity have signed up for a four week free recreation camp sponsored by the Girl Scout Council starting Wednesday July 5. Activities begin at 9 o clock at Cornell's grave with Mrs C T Callahan in charge. The camp uses the Normal college swimming pool at certain hours and includes cooking a hot dish daily over a camp fire along with other planned activities.
