Alderman Rounds seeks halt to prize fight

The July city council meeting covered routine business and bids for sewers and sidewalks. Alderman Rounds urged police to stop the 20round boxing event, but Mayor White opposed enforcing the law. Officers noted bicycle on walks fines were rare. council adjourned. Red Butte Land and Livestock Co filed articles of incorporation in Butte with G H McDougal S B MacDougal and O C Gosman as principals.

Democratic State Convention Backs W J Bryan for President

Boreman July 1 delegates and alternates chosen to the national convention at Denver are instructed to vote for W J Bryan. The six delegates and six alternates hailed Bryan with enthusiasm, and the convention approved a plank supporting Conrad for vice president.

Montanas Street Fair Day Schedule and Events

A full day program on Montana Street with band concerts at 9:30 and 11:30, numerous foot races for boys and girls, a pie eating contest, flour tub rooting, balloon ascent and parachute leap, a ball game Dillon versus Jones' Butte Independents, wrestling, fireworks, and a grand ball at Dillon Theatre. Evening events include a 7:47 band concert and admission notes, with free lawn areas for visitors.

Dillon Faces Deceptive Doctor Passing as Louis de Conde

A smooth impostor calling himself Dr Louis de Conde arrived in Dillon and posed as a renowned physician. He visited several invalids, took advance payments, and spoke of delicate surgical operations before Dillon physicians uncovered discrepancies in his claimed credentials and past employment. The man had used aliases including Dr Maillette during prior visits to Billings and Billings doctors questioned his license.

Doctor and fugitive tale ends with arrest in Billings

Dr. de Conde and Otto Bramer alias Dr. Herbert Mallet fled with instruments and cash from Dillon. Bramer was captured in Butte and is to be transported to Yellowstone county. He previously served 90 days for vagrancy and had posed as a French physician. Clifford Knapp returned to Dillon to install plumbing in Herman Jackson's Jackson residence.

Oldtimer George Perkins Dies. Five Heirs Sought in Montana

George W. Perkins, longtime Southern Montana rancher and Glendale trader, died in Pasadena. His five children two daughters and three sons are named in his will but their whereabouts and the missing wife are unknown. The Dillon lodge plans funeral under A F and A M auspices with interment in Mountain View cemetery. estate valued at about 15 000 to 20 000 dollars with a 12 000 dollar ranch and several mining interests.

Oregon Short Line to Build New Depot in Dillon

Officials from the Oregon Short Line announce plans for a 35 foot high depot in Dillon with pressed brick or white rock exterior, concrete foundation, boiler room, baggage and express rooms, waiting areas, and second floor spaces to be used as needed. S. S. Carruthers says local contractors will bid on the full project including all work and materials.

W. J. Perry Visits Dillon with Friend John Lovell

W J Perry of W J Perry and Co livestock commission firm at Union stock yards South Omaha spent several days in Dillon this week visiting longtime associate John Lovell. Perry praised Dillon as one of the prettiest towns in the West and admired the city and surrounding country. Mrs Perry accompanied him on the trip.

Conger Family Member Plans Spokane Move Next Spring

Charles W. Conger deputy clerk of the district court left Dillon for Spokane to visit relatives and consider relocating there next spring. Judge Everton J. Conger his father accompanies him or is connected in the note.
