Beaverhead County Fair Promises Strong First Event

The Beaverhead County Fair board appointed Richard Price to sell stock and collect unpaid subscriptions as fair preparations advance. With buildings and grounds completed at a low cost, the association seeks funds for further improvements but pledges a first class fair September 9 to 11 regardless of stock sales. The three day event invites county residents to attend and support the county institution.

Dillon Brass Band Plans Summer Open Air Concert

The Dillon brass band will hold an open air concert this evening at the band stand on Montana street with solos by band members. Concerts will run every other Friday all summer, and proceeds from a forthcoming ball at the Dillon theatre will fund new instruments. Masons from Dillon began a trip to Butte for initiation into the Mystic Shrine, listed among attendees.

Chinook Senior Class Publication Sets High Bar for Montana Normal

The annual Chinook from Montana State Normal College Dillon celebrates a 132 page cloth bound volume with 33 faculty and student engravings, 45 original drawings, stories and poems. The editor in chief is Helen de L. Mayger and the staff includes Rosamonde Wesch Ruth Ward Lillian Adams Myrtle Senior Maude Griffin Hazel Kennedy Clara Marcille. The Chinook was printed in the Tribune office and highlights the senior class’s literary and artistic achievements.

Dillon's Crippled Independents Upset Butte Nine

Dillon's badly short-handed team surprised Butte with a 9 to 7 victory as Smith ankle dislocated in the first inning. Barry starred with key plays to seal the win and McDonough rejoined Dillon to fill the vacancy. The game featured 13 hits and multiple errors, with Dillon holding off a late Butte rally.

Ready for a glorious Fourth in Dillon

The July Fourth plans in Dillon include a brass band, a high quality dance, balloon ascents and fireworks. An excursion train from Butter will bring 12 coaches, with horse races, a Dillon versus Butte Jones team ball game, and a heavy wrestling and boxing program on the public square and Dillon theatre. Cement Walk Contract Awarded To Gilbert and Campeau

City council held a special session to award the cement sidewalk work for the coming year. Gilbert & Campeau submitted the lowest bids and won the contract with rates for walks 22 cents per square foot crossings 30 cents curb 55 cents extra excavating 30 cents per cubic yard and extra filling 1 dollar per cubic yard. A $2 000 bond was required to guarantee work and materials for five years.

Miss Barbour to Attend Elk Reunion in Dallas

Miss Mabel Barbour attended the Normal Almani last week in the city visiting relatives and friends. She plans to spend part of her vacation in Dallas at the Elk reunion and will visit other Southern points before returning to Forsyth to resume duties. She will be accompanied by Mrs. W S Barbour who departs July 7 for Dallas to visit relatives there.
