Senators Seek Rural Voice on State Highway Board
Senators M K Martin of Jefferson and M J Lott of Madison have introduced a memorial urging the governor to fill the next vacancy on the state highway commission with a man from a rural country area. Post Office Receipts Show Yearly Rise in 1938
Dillon postmaster Harry J. Andrus reports postal receipts for 1938 totaled 24846.21 with gains in the last two quarters and a net yearly increase despite early declines. The year saw a 16 percent rise in the second half and higher stamp and postal business.

Directors of REA Named At Meet Here
Three Beaverhead valley directors were nominated at the Wednesday night meeting. Arnold Benson was named for the three year term John Albers for two years and C E Blinn for one year. Nine directors will be elected to represent the Jefferson Valley Rural Electrification project serving Madison county and the Beaverhead Glen Melrose extension. Benson presided and outlined the meeting’s threefold purpose progress on Beaverhead Glen Melrose Lima extensions wiring specifications and loan details and fair director representation. The Beaverhead extension was approved last September with 118000 allotted for 105 miles of line. An extension to Lima has been applied for and no contracts for construction have been issued.

Oldtimer Jean O'Dell Dies in Dillon Funeral Friday
Mrs. Jean B. O'Dell longtime Dillon resident died at her South Washington home Wednesday after a week long illness. Born in Hanover Germany May 17, 1867 she came to the U S in 1881 and settled near Dillon after marriage to Gerhard Albers in 1884. She later married Mr O'Dell in 1937. Survived by two daughters a son a sister and a brother funeral services set for Friday at 2 pm at the Lutheran church with Rev. Thompson.

Mrs Emily M Taylor longtime Dillon resident and pioneer died at her home on Railroad Avenue after a long illness. Born May 24 1856 in Bristol England she moved to the U S at 18 and later settled in Dillon with husband John Taylor a railroad engineer. Surviving daughter Mrs William Tash son Thomas S Taylor and brother Joe Tuckfield funeral at St James Episcopal Church today at 2 PM conducted by Rev H N Tragitt.

At a large Beaverhead Sportsmen’s Association meeting, J. H. Keenan was elected president succeeding Lindley Phillips. Other officers named include Russell Smith as vice president, Mrs. J. H.
