Walter Hetrick, a former Dillon resident and line fireman, died instantly at Buxton when his head was crushed near the engine while the southbound train backed to couple the diner. The accident halted service. the body went to Melrose and the coroner notified. Hetrick left a wife and four children. the community offers sympathy. Unknown man killed by railroad cars near Beaverhead
A murdered or unidentified man was found lying beside the railroad tracks about 100 yards from Beaverhead river. Nels Christianson and Coroner Walker retrieved the body to Dillon. He wore new tan corduroy pants, blue overalls, a lavender tie, a dark coat, and a fancy gold ring with a heart. No papers identified him. The case continues.

Fatal sewer accident claims Roy Gilman in Dillon
Roy Gilman a 17 year old Daly hardware company worker died in a cave in while connecting a city sewer at Reeder street Dillon. Henry Burfiend found the body about 430 pm life extinct likely from suffocation. Gilman, a nephew of A L Stone, had moved from Leavenworth Kansas three weeks earlier to work in plumbing for Dart Hardware. His remains were shipped to Leavenworth for interment as friends mourn his untimely death.

Detective captures three coal thieves on Oregon Short Line
Detective Robison of the Oregon Short Line and Clyde Carruthers tracked coal thieves in Dillon. Three men Jessie Theyberg Bill Sprague and W L Fox fled onto a north bound freight and were forced off and fined twenty dollars by Justice Hirschman. The pair also cleared the Neilson cabin on North Montana street finding five or more vagrant men who were forced to leave.
