Montana Normal Bulldogs defeated the Ore Diggers 38 to 18 in Butte to strengthen their hold on the small college conference title. Crocker scored 15 and Wetzel 10 as the Bulldogs built a 21 to 10 halftime edge and remained ahead. Intermountain moves to second place after Mines loss. The team also beat Billings Polytechnic 24 to 14 and Eastern Normal 46 to 25 to seal their strong season, with two conference games left.

Mrs Elizabeth Wentworth longtime Dillon resident died suddenly at her daughter’s home Wednesday afternoon after a throat illness She was born September 4 1889 in Eldon Missouri and moved to Dillon in 1924 Survived by daughters Mrs Kenneth Kenison Mrs James Melton Plentywood and Mrs M F Clever of Missoula plus three brothers and two sisters Funeral services were held Saturday at Brundage chapel with Neighbors of Woodcraft rites and interment at Mountain View cemetery

About 75 people attended the first annual Lincoln day dinner held at the Presbyterian church parlors. Frank Venable of Butte Dr. Robert E. Albright of Dillon and Robert Allen of Virginia City attended as Madison county figures. Wallace Forsgren acted as toastmaster and Don’s Dance band played. Mrs John Bourquin performed a solo.

A. Bergeson of Bergeson Beaverhead Co. returns from Chicago where he was called by a brother’s death. He shared a Chicago Tribune clipping noting Ford led Cook County January registrations with 1,325 new V-8 models, up 87.6 percent from the prior year and 115.6 percent over the third-place maker.

Herder George Raffan Dies of Heart Attack on Featherly Ranch
George Raffan about 55 was found dead in a field near the Featherly ranch home last Friday morning. Coroner James Phillips ruled death from a heart attack with no inquest needed. Raffan, a Canadian war veteran, had no known relatives and was buried Monday at Mountain View cemetery after services at Brunage funeral home conducted by Rev H N Tragitt. He had lived in the area for years and worked for Berg Christensen herding sheep on the Featherly ranch.

Sheriff McCollum arrested Carl Rumbaugh and H Harrington after a night of thefts at Montana Auto Supply. Dale Rumbaugh, jailed Saturday, escaped and was later tracked to the Rumbaugh home. the trio admitted stealing a Pontiac and a Chevrolet pickup to aid Dale’s breakout.

Senator George Melton of Beaverhead city suffered a sudden heart attack in the lobby of the Placer hotel in Helena Tuesday evening. A Wednesday telephone report said he was recovering rapidly and likely to leave the hospital that day. He had just finished a handball game and collapsed while shaking hands with F. A. Hazelbaker. He was expected to return home to recuperate for a few days.

Normal Grant for Dillon Normal College Borrowing Power
An important house measure by Rep. Joe Metlen became law allowing Dillon Normal college to borrow up to 200000 dollars from the PWA for repairs and construction. The loan is not a state debt, repaid over 20 years, with plans to remodel three dormitories and pursue a federal loan and grant backing. Negotiations are slow and work may begin in summer on the middle dormitory.
