Alpheus E Adams Dies After Long Illness in Dillon
Alpheus Edgar Adams a 36 year Dillon resident died at home Saturday after a lingering illness. Born September 7 1866 in Greenbush Illinois he moved to Dillon around 1900 and worked 22 years with James Leach in a North Montana barber shop. Survived by sister Mrs George Wolfe niece Miss Ruth Wolfe and cousin Mrs Payne of Coffeeville Kansas. Funeral Monday at Brundage chapel with Miss Ayers of First Baptist officiating and Odd Fellows rites at Mountain View cemetery.

At the assessor’s office last Thursday B. H. Norton declared ownership of two dogs for 1935 tax rolls. It’s the first time dogs are listed for assessment in the county, with Norton noting their value for theft aid and impoundment protection. The dogs are tentatively filed under Furbearing Animals, Foxes, etc. Also, local dog meat prices in Butte are reported as 7 to 8 cents per pound.

The Argenta post office, one of the state’s oldest, closed January 31 following the resignation of postmistress Mrs. A H French who sought relief from duties last May. She served eleven years and the town of about 43 families loses its office.
