Dillon Second Lowest Taxed City In Montana
Forest Bayerd city water commissioner asked the State Board of Equalization about Dillon taxes. Dillon is the second lowest taxed municipality in Montana with 17.3 mills for general tax purposes. Only Big Sandy uses a lower rate at 15 mills. Poplar leads with 63.5 mills, followed by Conrad 59 mills, and Deer Lodge 61.5 mills.

Miners Walk Out at Ermont Mine for Wage Increase
About 60 workers at the Ermont mine west of Dillon initiated a shutdown of both mill and mine in Beaverhead county in a wage dispute. The group, now organized as a union, demands raises from about 4.00 to 4.25 to 5.25 per day and claims a promise was made on February 1. A sit down group of roughly 35 bunkhouse residents remains inside the mine. Other district mines are unaffected.

Mrs Faannie Ann Conklin wife of Frank Conklin longtime Dillon resident died at Barrett hospital last Thursday after a brief illness. Born September 12 1865 in Missouri she came to Montana around 1880 with the Talent family and lived on a ranch near Dillon after 1895 marriage. Survived by husband six sons two daughters two sisters three brothers and seven grandchildren. Funeral held Monday at Brundage chapel with Rev H N Tragitt officiating and six sons as pallbearers.
