Severe cold wave hits Dillon and nearby towns
A sudden cold wave brought fine snow and subzero readings across the northwest. Livingston saw heavy blizzard and Helena the year's heaviest snowfall with about 10 below and only 2 above through the day. Roads blocked, several cars stalled, nearly 200 motorists snowbound including Senator George Melton and Representative Joe Mellon. Livestock losses expected but not yet tallied as temperatures rise later in the week and relief road work is halted.

LaVerne and Lorin Shaffner infant twins of Mr and Mrs Lorin Shaffner died within hours of each other at their Barnett avenue home. Born Jan 18 of this year, they will be laid in Mountain View cemetery in the same casket after services Thursday at 2 pm at Brundage chapel with Rev T J Simons presiding. The community extends sympathy to the parents.

Father of Dillon man dies in Great Falls
telegram received Friday morning informed Joseph Lynch of the sudden death of his father T. A. Lynch at his home in Great Falls. Lynch Sr. and wife had spent over a year in Dillon since their son acquired local interests, and his passing came as a shock as his health had not been publicly known to be failing.

Spearin Rites Held Here for Williams H Spearing
Funeral services for the late William H Spearing were held at Brundage chapel Friday morning with Rev J A Meeke of Grace Methodist Church officiating. The venerable pioneer had lived in the city about 50 years and was largely attended by friends. The body was shipped after noon to Unionville Missouri for interment beside his wife who died several years ago.

A government emergency relief fund of 4000 dollars supported 247 people in Beaverhead County in January. 199 were married men with families and 48 were single. Workers are employed on cemetery road and other road projects, with no cash payments. relief comes as store orders for food fuel and necessities. Esteemed Dillon Man Dies After Illness
David L. Smith, longtime Dillon resident born in Canada 79 years ago, died yesterday afternoon at his home on South Atlantic Street after a months long heart illness. He led steam engineering work at Dillon public schools and the library, was active in the Presbyterian church and Woodmen of the World, and is survived by his widow, a daughter, a son, a brother, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 PM at the Presbyterian church with Rev. T J Simons officiating. interment in Mountain View cemetery.
