Beavers Beat Anaconda and Butte Central

Beaverhead high defeated Anaconda on Anaconda’s floor 18 to 16 with Wright scoring a last moment field goal to seal the win. The following night Dillon beat Butte Central 1 to 17 before a large crowd in a high speed contest led by Wright and Blair.

Beaverhead county wool clip draws high prices this season

Beaverhead county wool buyers report record interest with prices from 38 to 41 cents. Top bid of 41 cents paid by R E Foster for Selway Sheep and E F Price estate clips, with about half the county clip contracted and many large lot purchases by Boston and Chicago firms.

Three County Wool Clips Hit 41 Cents a Pound

The third county wool clip to top Montana state prices was sold Thursday to R. E. Foster of Silberman & Son Chicago for 41 cents per pound from Roscoe Cornell. The clip totals about 6,000 fleeces and includes Selway Sheep Co and E. F. Price lots also fetching 41 cents.

Legion Men Donate Fifty Dollars To Red Cross Chapter

Beaverhead post of the Legion donated 50 to the local Red Cross chapter at the Thursday meeting in appreciation of aid to destitute ex service men passing through Dillon. The gathering included a 7 o'clock luncheon at the Andrus dining room and a large attendance. Commander S W Bond presided and Adjutant B A Risley reported 40 members had paid dues for the year. Also noted were rehearsals for the Legion show on Feb 15 and 16. Frank M Thomas, longtime Dillon resident, died at Barrett hospital aged 74. he came to Dillon in 1889 with J E Morse. He is survived by brothers in Illinois. Funeral set for Friday at 2 pm from Brundage chapel with Rev H B Ricketts officiating. interment at Mountain View cemetery.

January Term Court Ends With Mixed Civil Outcomes

The January term closed with a non suit in Flora Wright versus Rodgers and Gilbert executors, while Waldorf Company v Dan Mooney proceeds to Feb 7 without a jury. Hung jury in Zetta Carter et al will contest Frank Landon will, and Butala v Union Electric awarded 750. Norris v Kambich held, other cases continued or dismissed.

Independents Plan A State Tourney In Butte

Butte Montana hosts the first all state amateur basketball tournament at the YMCA court February 24 and 25. Independent players from across the state are invited with amateur eligibility rules. Entry due February 20 with a $5 fee. Awards funded from receipts. Ben Hardin leads the event. Visiting teams cover travel and board.

Excursion Rates Set for District Basketball Tournament

Dillon prepares for the district tournament with 12 teams and reduced rail fares under a fare and one half plan. Tickets go on sale now with season sales ending February 10 and single admissions priced at 50 cents opening, 75 cents semifinals, and $1 final. The event includes an extemporaneous speaking contest at the Normal college auditorium.

De Molays Attend State Meeting at Great Falls

Beaverhead DeMolay basketball team and two delegates attended the State Conclave in Great Falls. The team lost 238 to 20 to Billings, with Anthony Connolley and James Price among players. Delegates were James Price and William Backus. Price also played on the team.

A Beaver delegation led a group of nine students to a vocational congress. The event showcased student skills and potential career paths across trades and technical disciplines.

City's Best Talent 10 Appear in Legion Show

Beaverhead post of the American Legion presents a varied program February 15 and 16 directed by Miss Vivian Robe and Miss Helen May Smith with the Home Economics club and Baxter-Tonney orchestra. The show features vaudeville skits dance numbers and a radio studio setup broadcast from multiple venues. James Fay Earl Bradner lead the cabaret acts with Hawaiian guitar and banjo. soloists include Mrs. W. G. Gilbert and Dr. W. H. Stephan. Tickets go on sale February 6 at Hughes & McCaleb's with reservations urged.
