Ma and Pa Take A Rest and Go Traveling
A descriptive piece follows a middle aged farming couple on a train journey. The man bears marks of years of hard labor while the woman gazes peacefully out the window at familiar countryside. The narrative emphasizes quiet contentment after a life of toil and distant travels.
Face of the farmer’s wife and the coming nation
The narrative extols a hardworking American family, praising a mother who served daily chores and care for kin. It envisions California and Florida expanding as hubs for a nation growing through farming, urban flight, and vast future cities driven by intensified cultivation and flying machines.
