Youth suffers thumb loss in Sheep Creek chopping accident
Louis Whitworth was brought from his Sheep Creek basin ranch to Barrett hospital Monday afternoon after a wood chopping accident nearly severed his left thumb. The thumb was partially amputated.

Dillon to Have a New Toy Hospital for Christmas
The Dillon fire department plans a toy hospital to repair broken and discarded toys for needy children this Christmas. Otto Gordon heads the committee, with Tearl Tedrick and John W. Walters leading other members. Scouts from Troops 14, 42, and 40 will canvass the city next Saturday, collecting toys to be refurbished at the city hall firemen’s quarters. donations may be left at the police department.

Short Line Sends Big Tax Check
A voucher for 40532.90 covering half of the railroad taxes, totaling 81065.84 for 19382, was mailed Saturday November 26 to Bertie Mathews Beaverhead county treasurer from the Oregon Short Line in Salt Lake City. Tax agent E M Sawyer notes that 89310.97 of the total levy goes to schools, one fourth of the county’s annual school taxes totaling 26565.10, with 6947.16 for charity, 9208.23 for roads and bridges, 2870.72 for state purposes and 3110.82 for cities and towns.

Industry Sees Surprising Growth in Five Years
Roy Forrester of Beaverhead Fur Farms notes three fox farms near Dillon expect pelts valued between 380 000 and 400 000 this season despite earlier price drops. Since 1927 the venture grew from 380 pairs to about 70 pens per farm with 100 pelts to roughly ten times that amount in this season.

National Turkey day passed in Dillon with family dinners and church services. Weather held mild. many families toured the countryside and others joined a Billings Helena grid game in Butte. About twenty baskets of food were distributed to needy families by the Associated Charities. Special union services raised 19.63 for Barrett hospital.

Beaverhead County Receives Forest Receipts
Beaverhead county will get 3944.91 dollars from the U S forestry department as its 25 percent share of net receipts from the Beaverhead forest for 1932. Madison county receives 2929.29 dollars. Total distributions are down about half from prior years due to 50 percent grazing fee remissions to permittees. Beaverhead has received 150786.05 in 24 years since 1908. Other forest counties share proportionately.
