Olympic visitors speak at Dillon Rotary about 1932 games
Five Dillon visitors shared a first hand account of the 1932 Olympic games in Los Angeles at the Dillon Rotary Club meeting. They described travel by a Ford car, desert treks, city traffic, contest highlights, and a homeward drive with car troubles and a sale for $15. Dr Curry and Mrs Curry joined, enjoying Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park on the trip.

O A Bergeson left Friday for Butte to take the North Coast Limited to Eau Claire Wisconsin after the death of his mother Thursday evening. Mrs Bergeson had undergone an operation the prior week and initial news was hopeful. Two other sons survive besides Mr Bergeson of this city.

Cyclone Recall Blasts Elkhorn District Pines

Large Crew Called Out To Fight Forest Fire
Dillon manned by ten men Monday and thirty more Tuesday as Madison forest crews battled a blaze on Wolvering creek east of Black Butte. Forest officials suspect a careless smoker started it. ranger Whitman and three men tried to contain it before notifying Missoula. If carelessness continues, forests may close to entry without written permits.

Firemen's Rodeo to Lead Autumn Events in Dillon
Beaverhead county brims with anticipation for a two day Dillon Fire Department rodeo on Sept 4 and 5 at the fair grounds. The program features broncho riding bulldogging bareback riding and steer riding with novelty events like greased pole climbing greased pig races and a balloon dance. A free dance on Montana street Monday and a balloon dance at city hall kick off the festivities with a queen’s popularity contest and a trapshoot under Dillon Gun Club auspices. Prizes total from gate receipts and a noon barbecue with Beaverhead beef.

A nine period schedule and enrollment around last year's total are planned with cost-saving heating upgrades anticipated to cut expenses by 700 to 1000 dollars annually.

Prospector Is Released After Court Hearing
Morgan Jones, an aged prospector, pleaded guilty in a justice court to causing a forest fire in Moose Horn creek district. He was fined 25 dollars, remitted after he said the act was unintentional, with the fire resulting in about three acres burned before Wisdom crews extinguished it. He has mined near the Idaho state line for nearly 50 years and arrived in Dillon from the Wisdom-Gibbonsville area.

Mrs Val Tadovich found the body of a man about 60 in Rock Creek near Lavon bridge. Coroner James Phillips and Deputy Sheriff Paul Temple investigated and brought the body to Dillon. A card listed William Jones Mast Arkansas Butte as address but age did not match. Death attributed to natural causes, several days prior. Authorities seek relatives.
