Stage Hold Up Aboard Near Montana Divide

A stage between Gibbonsville and Bedrock was halted by four masked highwaymen who stole gold dust valued around 2500 dollars from H. J. Reiling and his wife. Reiling, president of Pacific Dredging, said the robbers took three valises and a revolver after forcing them from the coach. The party tried to call the sheriff via phone but wires were cut. pursuit began from Dillon after Red Rock terminus.

Buckskin Clark Dies Pioneering Miner of Utah

Obituary recalls Li W. Clark known as Buckskin Clark a long time miner and pioneer in Bannack Montana and Tooele County Utah. He helped set Bannack sluice boxes in 1860 and opened Lion Hill mining in 1870 before his peaceful death on Monday August 7 leaving a mark on Utah’s mining history.
