The Rural Electrification Administration preliminarily considers a $134,000 loan for Jefferson Valley Rural Electrification Cooperative Inc. to extend 134 miles of lines to about 325 members across Jefferson, Silver Bow, Beaverhead, Madison and Deer Lodge counties, including into the Big Hole basin. Existing funds total $270,000. applicants must secure memberships and easements and provide maps. The same residential rates would apply, with $3.50 for 40 kWh and $5.60 for 100 kWh. project progress relies on sustained community cooperation.

At a regular Dillon Chamber of Commerce board meeting last week the group discussed local road improvements and a Daly dam survey. Harold M. Warner presided as president. A report on the tri county road boosters meeting held at Sheridan was shared and plans were made to contact other chambers to promote a west east highway from Portland through Salmon river country into Montana via Leadore and Grant.

Restock River With Rainbow Fingerlings in Beaverhead Area
Beaverhead streams received 100000 Rainbow fingerlings and fry last week with more expected. Friday 40000 fingerlings from Anaconda hatchery were released into the Beaverhead River under deputy game warden Charles Price. An additional 60000 fry were planted in the Scott and Decker rearing pond near Armstead for future release, and 40000 fingerlings will head to Big Sheep Creek soon.

Ore Car Jumps Track Near Glen Delays Trains
Damages to Union Pacific tracks occurred when a northbound freight ore car jumped the track about a mile south of Glen Sunday. The car stayed attached to the train, no other cars derailed, and passenger trains faced only slight delays. A new wheel set was installed and the journey resumed Monday.

A party from Nampa Idaho traveling to Dillion for a Robson funeral crashed near the Normal college when the car veered off the road and hit a light pole breaking it in two. Mrs Bert Smith and Mrs Frank Nicol plus Melvin Robson 10 were treated for cuts and bruises. C A Robson was uninjured. A Utah truck then struck the fallen pole and caused further damage. Officers Wright and Hildreth investigated.

Ranchman Franks Robson Dies of Heart Attack
Frank Robson a 73 year old rancher from Point of Rocks Idaho died last Wednesday of a heart attack while herding work horses to pasture. He rode toward the ranch house and tumbled from his saddle when the horse halted. Robson had long battled heart ailments and was a leader in the Beaverhead river dam proposal. Surviving include two children and four brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Friday at Brundage chapel with Rev. Paris Wells officiating. interment followed at Mountain View cemetery.

Sheepherder John Hendricks Found Dead in Cabin
John Hendricks age 70 was found dead in his Hogan's alley cabin Tuesday morning believed due to a sudden illness. He was born September 24 1868 in Bowling Green Kentucky and had worked as a sheepherder in the area for years. Officers cannot yet locate his two brothers.

Nine boys left Dillon on Saturday for Elkhorn Springs to join a Chamber of Commerce sponsored recreational camp.
