Mrs Louisa Morrissey aged 70 died at her Thomson avenue home after a lingering illness. A Kalamazoo native who came west as a young woman she resided here 21 years and was known locally. Surviving daughter Mrs Leona Anangst and son Otto Koeninger of Whitenob Idaho along with grandchildren. Funeral 2:30 Saturday at Brundage Funeral Home with Rev F X Lechners of St Rose church officiating.

Lake victim believed former Dillon resident found
A body believed to be Latta Russell, 70, former Dillon and Lima resident, was found last Saturday in Lake Michigan at Milwaukee. Russell had long been involved in horse racing at Butte and moved to Dillon about 15 years ago to run a riding academy. He had recently lived in Lima and left for eastern points about three months ago.

Dillon Rotary Club Schedules Twin Bridges Visit and Discusses Local Irrigation
The Dillon Rotary Club met at the Metlen hotel with two talks by local speakers. Chas H Niblack chaired and T Lee McCracken announced a Madison county Rotary visit to Twin Bridges. J Anson Baxter reported on Glacier Park and the Logan Pass highway as well as a vocational talk on buying a new automobile with trade ins. Judge Lyman H Bennett discussed Beaverhead county irrigation and water distribution noting fewer commissioners but cooperative users. Other guests included Mr Fowler of Salt Lake City and Mr Cochran of Jackson along with local residents Jack Stocker and family.

Booked as R V Gibson for passing two bad checks on different banks. One $15 draft on First National Bank was returned unpaid as no account. Dillon to host big rodeo on Labor Day weekend
Southern Montana cowboys and Northwest buckaroos clash at Dillon on Sunday and Monday September 2 and 3. The two day show features top bucking horses from Jackson Wise River Centennial valley Twin Bridges and top riders as arena director Sam Freeman builds a classic old time rodeo with a parade led by a Greg ory band each afternoon. Proceeds fund a rural fire truck for outlying districts, with a growing fund from the event.

Alvin A. Simpson, longtime supervisor of the Beaverhead National Forest, is promoted to head of the office of lands in a new government project to plant a shelter belt 15 miles wide and 800 miles long through the central western states. Fred Morrell will direct the timber planting. Headquarters will be temporary in Lincoln, Nebraska. Simpson is noted as a capable forester with over three years leading the Beaverhead forest, the largest in the northwest.
