Son of Pioneer Resident Poindexter Dies in Butte
George Gentry Poindexter, 52, son of long established Poindexter family, died Monday in a Butte hospital after a long illness. Native of Beaverhead valley, he lived most of his life in the area, spent years with P and O ranch, later residing in Butte. Survived by two sisters Mrs. Kingsbury of Butte and Mrs. Cooney of Helena, a brother P. W. Poindexter of Stevensville, brother-in-law Governor F. H. Cooney, and other relatives. Funeral held at St James Episcopal Church with Rev. Tragitt officiating. burial followed.

Miss Lillian Stone reports enthusiastic countywide interest in state extension canning programs. About 300 women attended meetings in Dillon Armstead Lima Dell Jackson Wisdom River Melrose Divide. Demonstrations covered fruit and vegetable preservation dry foods salting and drying, and canning chicken with hot water bath or pressure cooker to kill spore forming bacteria. Pair escape unharmed when car hits cows
A Buick sedan driven by Bill Hartwig struck a cow and calf on a state highway near the Dubois ranch. The animals died and the radiator and body were damaged while Hartwig and passenger Floyd Vandegrift suffered only minor bruises and glass injuries. The incident underscores livestock hazards to motorists at night.

Harold Blinn Takes Washington Bride
Miss Kay Gilbert of Colfax became the bride of Harold Blinn son of Mr and Mrs C E Blinn of Dillon last Saturday in Colfax. After the ceremony the couple departed for a tour of Glacier and Canadian National parks. The bride is a graduate of Washington State college Pullman and the groom a Beaverhead county high school and State University Missoula alumnus and instructor in history and economics at Washington State for two years. They will reside in Pullman.

Senator George M. Melton learned from the state extension service in Bozeman that Beaverhead County is declared an emergency relief area. The county will participate in relief buying for cattle and sheep with $1,800 of the agent’s salary covered by the federal government and the rest by the county. Livestock owners should list stock with the appointed county agent. buying will start once machinery is set, aiding stockmen facing hay shortages and winter stock reductions.
