Dillon Rotarians hosted an inter city gathering with Twin Bridges Whitehall and Dillon members along the Big Hole river. Charles Henry chaired a program featuring Clarence Doak Roy Austin and Joe Metlen among speakers, vaudeville, music and dancing. The talks urged highway cooperation linking Dillon Twin Bridges and Whitehall.

Hunters Diminish Predatory Birds in Beaverhead Valley Campaign
Dillon sportsmen staged the first campaign against predatory birds in years. Two teams led by Roy Forrester and Pete Westergaard killed hawks magpies and other birds to protect pheasants partridges and ducks scoring 1200 to 845. High shooter John Lanner logged 445 points from 175 shells. The losing team will host a celebratory dinner.

Beaverhead county high school will open for registration Tuesday, September 4, at 8:30. Readiness includes improvements in ceilings, lighting, and facilities. The plan limits duck hunting in Montana to Fridays through Sundays in a staggered 30 day season led by Kenneth Roahen. Daily bag limits cap at 12 total with up to five of a single species, plus a two day limit of 24 birds. Stocker Dies at 73 After Long Illness in Dillon
Luther C. Stocker aged 73 died Sunday at his South Washington home after a long illness. Born February 3, 1861 in Port Washington Ohio, he moved to Montana in 1889 and later to Beaverhead County opening a Grant store and ranching on Horse Prairie. Survived by widow two sons Roy and Harry three daughters Eva May and Anna two brothers and a sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Lutheran church with Rev. Orval Schmidt officiating and burial at Mountain View Cemetery.

Train 32 Derailed Near Monida. Crew Uninjured
Short line engine and mail car derailed about one fourth mile north of Monida Sunday night around 11 o'clock. Engineer W Carter and fireman J Jenkins escaped unharmed along with mail car clerks. The wreck blocked rails until wrecking crews from Pocatello cleared the ditch and traffic resumed. No deaths or injuries to crew were reported, and Train 31 passed the switch safely earlier.
