Old-Time Rancher Archibald A Hayden Dies After Long Illness
Archibald A. Hayden 178, longtime rancher of the Centennial valley, died at his Dillon home Saturday after a lingering illness. Born January 13, 1858 in Boon, Iowa, he moved to Montana in 1875 with his brother, lived at Silver Star before 1889, then ran a Upper Centennial valley ranch until retirement a year ago. He married Mary M. Kingery on September 8, 1891. Survived by wife, three children Samuel, Archie, and Mrs. Amanda Nye, four grandchildren, and sister Mrs. Belle Morford of Griswold, Iowa. Funeral Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Brundage chapel. burial Mountain View Cemetery.

Beaverhead county residents received 75121 from the Home Owners Loan corporation during refinancing operations ending June 13 1936. National Emergency Council figures show 33 loans, aiding 3679 distressed homeowners nationwide with 7284979. Of this, 651000 went to taxes and assessments with an average 177 per Montana loan.

Kolb a 14 year old from Billings won first place in the state Fisher Body Craftsman Guild apprentice class competition He will receive 75 in cash for his miniature traveling coach model from the Napoleonic era The award was announced by William A Fisher president of the General Motors educational foundation at Detroit where Montana and neighboring state models are judged since August 1.

Escaped Prisoner Quickly Captured in Reichle
Lloyd Williams, an escapee from Beaverhead County jail on burglary charges, fled Sunday night from Deputy P. J. Flynn during a dinner at a Reichle beer parlor. Officers tracked his trail from Melrose to Lima, arrested him Monday afternoon at Reichle with Chief Nelson, and returned him to jail where he faces grand larceny charges and a history of five state-prison terms.

Car Demolished In Montana Cloudburst Wreck
A car owned by Terry Conklin was swept by a Montana cloudburst near the A. J. Rise ranch. Trapped by floodwater and debris, the occupants escaped as the vehicle tumbled down a gulch and came to rest after more than a half mile. Mrs. H. F. Best and son Winfield of Helena are visiting relatives.

Golfdom's premier event of the season the championship match will be held at Dillon Country Club within the next few weeks. Principal Named for Local High Beaverhead Picks Hinsdale Leader
Conrad Orr superintendent of Hinsdale schools was elected principal of Beaverhead county high school at a board meeting held last week in Nell Doyle’s office. Orr succeeds the late Joseph Monroe and brings strong credentials from Missoula with a State University degree plan and social science history and education focus. He has coached athletics, is married with one child, and was rated highest among applicants. Orr will return to Dillon soon with his family.
