F. E. Foote lends the Dillon Tribune to Tom D. Caverly and Fain Alkire after 43 years as Foote remains proprietor of the book and stationery store. Alkire will publish the Daily Messenger and the firm Alkire and Caverly takes over September 1 on a five year lease. The Tribune remains a republican paper.

Carl Mast, a well known contractor, started a crew to relocate a frame house at the corner of Glendale and Idaho streets. The site will be used for a modern oil station.

Federal raid arrests nine in Dillon liquor probe

A organized operation by seven Helena federal officers and Captain Welliver raided five Dillon establishments on Montana Street and Bannack Street, arresting nine men within ten minutes. Each defendant was bound over to federal court on $800 bonds and scheduled for the first term in Butte. Search warrants were issued by the U.S. commissioner in Helena based on recent informant information.

Ranchers and families from Bond community held their annual Birch Creek canyon picnic last Sunday. Fifty five people attended with plenty of food and games filling the afternoon. Guests from Dillon included Miss Alice Roe Miss Genevieve O Leary and Miss Aura Dutcher.

Eddie Noon Sentenced to Ninety Days for Disturbance

Eddie Noon was arrested Wednesday evening for creating a disturbance at a dance and sentenced by Judge Phillips to 90 days in the county jail last Saturday. Noon was said to be under the influence of liquor.

Labor Day Picnic In Dillon Aims For Historic Fraternal Outing

District Modern Woodmen of America mobilizes 11 Silver Bow and neighboring camps for a Labor Day gathering at Dillmont Park Dillon. Beaverhead County Fair Cancelled for 1926

Beaverhead County officials cancelled the 1926 fair after a Monday meeting citing competing events and poor agricul tural conditions. Secretary George Dart noted subpar fair grounds and insufficient time to repair livestock exhibits, with plans to prepare for a better event next year.

Old time ranchman Francis Carroll dies after illness

Francis P. Carroll a well known retired ranchman of Butte died at his east side home about 2 o clock Thursday morning after a brief illness. He had seen health fail since his wife’s death in June. A native of Ireland he came to America as a youth and later settled in Beaverhead County. Surviving are daughter Mary and six sons Emmett John Francis William Joe and Charles with Francis and Charles in Washington and Oregon. Funeral set for Saturday morning at the Catholic church.

Rotary meeting highlights work for Dillon boys

Dr. R. D. Curry chaired the Dillon Rotary Club gathering at the Andrus hotel dining room. Roy Forrester spoke on Outdoor Work for Boys, Fain Alkire outlined Boy Scout troop activities, Howard Morse described Rotary aid for rural students, and Grant Kelleher delivered readings followed by songs.

Giant moonshining still seized near Lakeview by sheriff and federal agents

Sheriff Dan Mooney and Federal Agent Ben Holter captured a massive 850 gallon mash still in the mountains near Lakeview. The operation housed 150 gallons of finished product, 52 barrels of mash, 30 sacks of sugar, syrup, yeast and empty barrels, with operators Scotty Newman and Rudy Elkins arrested and released on bonds. The plant covered 60 by 35 feet with spring water and was transported from Dillon.

Sheriff Nabs Twe After Brie Chase

Sheriff Dan Mooney ended a 200 mile pursuit by returning to Dillon with two men named as the assailants from an early morning incident. The arrests followed a high speed chase ending in the town.

Beaverhead county commissioners met August 9 and 10 in regular sessions. Chairman Gosman led the board with Shaw and Anderson present. Actions include approving July work, authorizing district inspections, and appointing George Opp to the fair commission seat.
