Woodmen to Hold September District Meeting in Dillon
Dillon will host the Modern Woodmen of America district meeting on September 5 and 6 drawing representatives from eight camps in Butte Twin Bridges Harrison Ennis and Dillon. Earl Roe of Butte announced the Labor Day site with a record crowd expected no Woodmen picnic last year minor sports Sunday at Dillmont Park and a drill team competition for a loving cup with prize money plus invited women drill teams. Baseball games highlight afternoon events with the Butte Woodmen team likely playing Dillon or Ennis teams on alternate days.

Lima Resident Dies by His Own Hand in Lima
Albert Peterson of Lima, a Beaverhead county native and longtime resident, died Sunday morning at his Lima home from a rifle self inflicting wound. An inquest led by Coroner James E. Phillips found death by self inflicted gunshot. He was ill at the time and burial occurred Tuesday with Veterans of Foreign Wars services. He leaves two brothers Pete and Lawrence, a sister Maud Foster, and several nieces and nephews.

Golfers Open Their Annual Tourney Here
Dillon Country club opened its annual championship tourney with eighteen hole elimination rounds last Sunday. The high sixteen advance to match play to crown the champion, with winners in the championship flight and losers in the first flight. Second sixteen compete for second and third flights. Match play begins Thursday August 19, with prizes for all flights and defending champion H. B. Brundage chasing last year’s finalist W. B. Hartwig.

Court Bill Passes Senate in Minute Long Grip. Garner Praised
Vice President Garner used steamroller tactics to push the McCarran Court Bill through the Senate with no dissent. George W. Dart, 66, a prominent Dillon resident and longtime Mason, died suddenly at his home after a heart attack. Born in Port Huron Michigan on July 21 1871 he moved to Dillon in 1890 and held varied posts including secretary treasurer of the Dart Hardware Co and sheriff of Beaverhead County. Funeral services will be held Friday at the Masonic hall with Knight Templar and Blue Lodge rites.

Eagle Scout Carr details jamboree trip for Rotary club
John Carr of Dillon described a charter of seventeen scouts traveling from Butte to the National Scout Jamboree in Washington. They visited Chicago’s planetarium and Detroit’s Greenfield Village and Ford museums. They toured Niagara Falls New York City landmarks and Arlington cemetery. They noted 26 000 scouts attended. The club’s next meeting will be at Elkhorn Hot Springs with details to follow.

Spud Growers Seek Fair Price Under New Act
