College Graduates Summer Students at Montana Normal College
Commencement exercises honored 36 graduates of the fourth division class of 1937 at Montana State Normal College. Dr Robert E Albright gave the address What Next retiring from the faculty to take a post in Buffalo New York. Diplomas were presented by George Gosman with candidates listed for summer term and a separate set named for Wednesday conferrals. An outdoor concert by the Little Symphony orchestra and Women’s Chorus capped commencement week.

Roney to Talk At Meeting of Vets Thursday
Walter C. Roney of Anaconda new commander of the Mining District will lead Beaverhead Post installation ceremonies Thursday evening at Canyon Resort. Commander-elect A M Jones and his staff take over for the term as veterans gather for fried chicken dinner. Past Commander Joe Wedum will conduct the meeting in place of T L McCracken who retires. The new officers include Alvin M Jones as Commander with J Hovren as Vice Commander.

Fourteen Men Complete Beaverhead Madison County Range Surveys
Fourteen men under the Agricultural Adjustment Administration finished range surveys in Beaverhead and Madison counties. They examined 237 356 acres on 37 ranches in Beaverhead, with Forest Service staff led by K D Fleck. Miss Eileen Gibbons assisted in clerical work for both counties. The county agricultural adjustment committee will meet at the Federal building Thursday to review reports and maps and approve range improvements such as springs, fences, and cross works.

County approves levy identical to last year with minor raises
Beaverhead County commissioners set a county levy of 27.84 mills unchanged from last year and raised the high school levy to 8.33 mills from 7.84. Other funds include 3.5 mills for stock and sanitary, road 5 mills, general 12.34, poor 6, bridge 2, and sinking 2.5, plus special poor and road at 2 each. No protests were filed during equalization and 1937 valuations show increases over 1936 in Dillon and city totals. Mr and Mrs A F Waldorf and daughter Jane depart for Helena for a Stephens College dinner in honor of President James Madison Woods.

Dillon Boys Win Prizes at North Montana Fair
Members of the Dillon Future Farmers of America and Beaverhead 4-H club fared well at the North Montana Fair in Great Falls last week. The stock judging team of Charles Green Rudolph Platt Dennis Smith and Emerson Selway placed third in the state, with teacher D L Johnson noting the training work. Harry Tash won third in the medium class baby beef with a steer selling for 19 cents per hundred, a record for Beaverhead county. Green also earned awards for harness exhibit and leather head stall. Floyd Pahnish took second on a riding bit and Latimer Smith a third on spurs.
