Motorists Pleased With New Glendale Street Pavement
Motorists praise the new concrete pavement in the residential district as a fine job. The surface runs from Idaho Glendale to Atlantic and connects with the highway creating an unbroken hard surface from Monida to Butte. A resident counted 165 cars at one corner in an hour as traffic surged. District Engineer Tillsey plans stop signs on entry streets pending funding. In a separate incident Sam Collier was arrested in Dillon for blocking a freight train between Butte and Dillon.

Lee Hutchinson alias Sam A Fuller alias Ben Owens was taken into custody Saturday by Sheriff Oakley and County Attorney Jones of Kemmerer Wyoming. He returned to face a robbery charge and is said to be wanted in five Wyoming counties on forgery car theft and robbery charges. He reportedly served a prior prison term.

Frank Mautz longtime Beaverhead valley resident and former Montana naturalized citizen died last Friday at his nephew Joseph Mautz’s ranch after a lingering illness. He was 67, Austrian-born, survived by son Frank Jr. and another nephew in Butte. Interment at Mountain View cemetery after requiem at St Rose’s. Mrs Ellen Conover, longtime community matron, died Saturday night at her ranch home south of Dillon aged 78. Survived by husband John, a son John and a daughter in Oregon. Funeral Tuesday at Brundage, burial at Mountain View.

Father of W. G. Squires Dies in Nebraska Home
Wilber Squires pioneer resident of Plainview Nebraska died at his home after a lingering illness. W G Squires of the Tribune force received word Thursday noon of the death. He had just returned to Nebraska when his father’s condition worsened. He left at once with his wife and son Wilber. Mrs Squires had been in Plainview for three months caring for him.

Former Dillon Girl Tours With Roosevelt in Washington
Marian Fergus Badcon, a former Dillon girl and Seattle Post-Intelligencer reporter, traveled with President Roosevelt on his Washington tour. She flew in a Northwest Airlines press plane to Grand Coulee, where 20 000 spectators greeted the president and heard his promise that the desert would blossom. She then rejoined the caravan to Ephrata and Spokane before continuing with the president’s train.

Plans announced for Elks convention in Miles City
Earl L. Wheat president of the state BPOE association will travel to Miles City next week to confer on the annual state convention set for August 16 to 18. An elaborate three day program is planned and a record crowd of members and their ladies is expected with bands and drum corps from several lodges especially in central and eastern parts of the state.

The Dillon community plans a two day rodeo September 2 and 3 with help from the volunteer fire department and local farmers. Events include bucking contests with 50 80 and 20 day money, calf roping, bulldogging, relay races, bareback riding, novelty races and more. Montana Ratifies 21st Amendment in State Move
Delegates vote 45 to 4 to ratify the Twenty‑first Amendment in a Helena constitutional convention the first since 1879. Thirty‑seven states had ratified, two rejected. Beaverhead delegates were Dr. F. M. Poindexter and Terry Browning. Mrs. Aldrich, sister of Mrs. Harold H. Hansen, arrived for a visit.

Former Beaverhead Instructor Gains X Ray Fame
Dr. Hollis Elmer Potter formerly taught science at Beaverhead County High School exhibited the first full-length one piece x-ray photograph at the Century of Progress in Chicago. The photo and an accompanying Time article appeared July 30. Potter now in Chicago is noted for a new photography system aiding medical work and is the second former local to be featured in Time recently after Governor Poindexter.
