Valuable horse shot after fright near Barretts station
Sunday afternoon Bert Barr and Miss Newton started for Barretts station when a No 8 passenger train passed. The horse panicked as the train whistled and ran through a wire fence injuring the animal severely. Sylvester Hirshman and Carrie Harrison helped free the horse, which was then driven to Barretts and stopped by a section man. The horse could not be saved and H D Ayers shot it. replacement value is about 150 dollars. Barr and Newton returned to Dillon with Ayers.

Wild Cats Sightings Near Dillon Stirr City Locals
Wild cats have appeared near Dillon causing excitement among residents. Charles P. Thomas shot at a large cat by Beaverhead River near Charles Padley’s slaughter house but cannot confirm a strike. Rev A A Luce and family also saw a wild cat near Glendale as they passed. Padley notes no recent sheep damage from the animals.

Dillon expects quick end to horse rustling in Horse Prairie
Stock Inspector Nick Staudaher arrested Billy Payment of Horse Prairie on grand larceny charges for stealing a colt from the T. P. ranch. Payment was arraigned before Justice Virmillion with a preliminary trial set for August 29 and bond set at $500. Staudaker vows to curb rustling in the county, especially on Horse Prairie.

Many tourists for the park push Monida stage outfits
Martin H. Albin, general manager of the Monida and Yellowstone Stage company, visited Dillon to hire teams for the park travel season. Delivery Wagon Accident Dislocates Shoulder
James McAllister was thrown from the Dillon Steam Laundry wagon at Dillon and Pacific streets when the horse bolted after the Poindexter kitchen moved by Josephus stick. His right shoulder was dislocated but the injury is not serious and he expects to return to work soon.

Oregon Short Line officials aim to build new Dillon depot
Division Superintendent G H Olmstead and Division Engineer KR W Ketchum visited Dillon to inspect the depot warehouses and sidetracks and to push improvements. A new modern depot costing at least 10000 is expected across tracks from the current building. The Short Line plans to extend sidetracks in the Dillon yards with grading in the north part of town toward the oil house.

Madison Should Care For Him At Poor Farm Visit
Madison county officials toured the county poor farm and found conditions satisfactory. Two very sick charges were reported rheumatic fever and Charles White who broke a leg at Ernest Selway’s ranch about two weeks ago. Beaverhead commissioners argue Madison should cover White’s care since he was injured in Madison, but no agreement exists. The law requires thirty days in-county eligibility, yet White’s need prompted care despite lacking the time requirement.

Ben Hager Awarded Cement Walk Contract in Livingston
Livingston city council awarded Ben Hager the cement sidewalks contract after bids from five bidders. Hager's rates were 22 cents per foot for walks and alley crossings 29 cents for street crossings and 54 cents for curbing. J R King challenged the award in Park County district court seeking to enjoin the contract pending legal action. Temporary restraining order issued with returnable date set for Wednesday.
