Two Auto Accidents Mark Last Week End
A dust cloud caused Karl Shaffer to hit a wandering horse near the Nelson school house injuring the animal, which was later shot. Shaffer then collided with H. J. Goodwin, causing major damage but no injuries. Another crash occurred south of town the previous evening.

Poindexter Lad Dies at Stevensville Home
Philip Poindexter a 15 year old Stevensville resident died at his home last Monday from infantile paralysis after a one day illness. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Walter Poindexter former Dillon residents and was a cousin of Dr. F M Poindexter and Eugene Poindexter of this city. He was born at Dixon and his father owns Bitterroot garage.

Audacious forgery targets Beaverhead ranchman legacy
Dillon officers faced a bold fraud case as two checks for 17.50 were cashed in the name of Craig Cornell, a deceased Beaverhead rancher. A young woman, described as very attractive, allegedly used the name at the Japanese-American studio and the Lobby pool hall, making small purchases before the bank detected the forgeries. She likely left town and remains at large.
Former Dillon Woman Ellen Henneberry Dies in Missoula
Ellen Henneberry a former Dillon resident died in Missoula last Friday after years as a nurse. Relatives from Dillon attended her funeral in Deer Lodge last Monday including M A Henneberry W F Henneberry and son Ambrose and Francis Tonrey. She was born in the county and lived in Dillon for a period.

Fireman Injured After Fall From Engine Tender

Auto Crash Injuries Avoided in Featherly Lane Collision
Last Monday evening a two car crash on the Featherly lane turn involved F. M. Morse of Hall and James Ashworth of this city. Both vehicles suffered considerable damage with no injuries. Ashworth contends Morse drove on the wrong side, seeking damages.

County Board Handles Special Business at August Session
County commissioners met last Monday at the courthouse with J E Shaw C C Gosman and A L Anderson present along with Albert Baker deputy clerk and recorder. They authorized James Melton to negotiate with Delco Light for a new farm plant pending disposal of the old unit and approved $7500 insurance for a new livestock pavilion while granting $50 for fence damages from river freeze. The First National Bank of Lima tax refund claim was denied in part and R Kk Cosgrove was directed to paint the courthouse flag pole and gild the hall. County attorney T E Gilbert will review dependent rights to county aid and all claims must be filed with the clerk by the first of each month.

Dillon Boy Injured Working On Hotel Construction
H J Bostwick of Bozeman reported that his son Gerald was seriously injured last week while helping carry a 400 pound girder on the steel work for a new hotel. A pipe left in a runway caused a slip and the girder fell across him. He underwent an operation at a Bozeman hospital and is reported to be recovering as well as could be expected.
