Hansen jailed on game law charge in Wise River
John Hansen a native of Russia and new citizen was arrested last week in the Big Hole basin by Deputy Game Warden Charles Price for killing an elk out of season in Wise River. He pleaded guilty before Judge George Opp and was fined 200 dollars or to serve jail time.

Bitterroot-Beaverhead Fire Under Control in Montana
Reports from the local forest office said the fire that spread from Car mine creek on the east side of the Bitterroot into Beaverhead national forest Monday was under control and expected to be fully extinguished today. The blaze covered about 800 acres, burning mainly beetle killed timber, with about 240 men deployed from the county and Bitterroot section to fight it. Other fires in Montana and Idaho were also reported under control.

Former Helena resident dies in Washington DC
News comes of the death in Washington DC last Monday night of Mrs. Benjamin S. Bratcher formerly Miss Linnice Conway of this city. She had lived in Helena until recently and was a graduate of Helena High School. Survived by her husband, a seven day old daughter, her parents, five sisters and a brother, with body to be brought to Helena for interment. She was a department manager for Montana Life Insurance and active in the Order of Eastern Star.
