The code becomes effective only after national approval. A wire to the president pledged support under the national recovery act. Beaverhead High School Opens September 5 With New Faculty
Beaverhead County High School will start fall term on Tuesday September 5 with the same number of teachers as last year. A new home economics course is added and the schedule will switch to six one hour periods. New faculty members include Jason Preston teaching mathematics Mildred A Buckenberg English French and music and Berniece O Hirschman biology home economics. They replace three retiring staff members. C M Ogren becomes assistant principal and James C Harris takes over athletics duties.

Gerald Beebe 15, son of Lee and Mrs Beebe, was found asleep on a sagebrush flat near his home after wandering more than three days in Frying Pan basin. He was rescued by the Knapp brothers of Argenta and is recovering at Barrett hospital. He described fending off rattlesnakes and recalled a fall that left him dazed.

Willis Bedell, a former resident, has been received here as an inmate since December 1938 at the sanitarium. The funeral was held there Wednesday. He was engaged in ranch operation for several years and worked at various occupations.

Butte Teen Drowns In Big Hole River Saturday
Richard Murray sixteen, a Central High student and Butte youth, drowned after stepping into a deep hole while fishing with his uncle Dan Scully. Search teams from Butte, Anaconda, and Glendive, aided by planes and divers, recovered the body Monday as authorities pursued a wide river search through night and day.

Pioneer Woman of Dillon Claimed by Death
Mrs. Alice A. Selway, aged 86, Beaverhead County pioneer, died last Monday in Salt Lake City after years of ill health. Born in Wisconsin she came west with her family in 1875 and helped found the community. Surviving relatives include sister Mrs. Harriet Dart and three sons George D. Selway B F Selway and R J Selway all of Dillon and another son Mark in Mammoth California.
