Rural Electrification Meetings Set for Beaverhead Area
The state rural electrification project for Beaverhead valley Reichle and Melrose will be explained at two meetings this week in Dillon and Melrose. The Dillon session is Thursday at 8 pm in the city hall auditorium followed by Melrose Friday at 8 pm. Community committees will be elected to aid inauguration. Dillon lodge No. 1554 BPOE marks nine years with a Snow Ball at Dart's hall Saturday night. The drum and bugle corps opened the evening with a 9 15 parade as Elks and their ladies enjoyed a gala affair led by committee heads C A Bechler L H Smith and Oscar Griffith. Henry Wyatt Victim of Long Illness in Portland
Henry C. Wyatt longtime Dillon native and first commander of Beaverhead Post of the American Legion died Friday night in Portland Veterans Hospital after a lingering illness. Born in Lancaster Tennessee 43 years ago he moved to Dillon as a boy and later worked in Seattle auditing. A World War I veteran he served as first sergeant then top sergeant in Company D 163rd infantry. He married Henrietta Jones in 1924 and survives with his widow, parents J. F. Wyatt, a sister Ruby of Beaumont Texas, and a burial roster set for Thursday at 2 30 PM at the Lutheran church with military honors by Beaverhead Post veterans.

Post Office to Receive Mural Next Week
A panoramic mural by Mrs. Elizabeth Lochrie of Butte, titled News From the States, depicting an early post rider, will be previewed next week on the south wall of the post office lobby. The mural, financed by the federal government, will be mounted May 3 after winter work painting on canvas. High winds hindered Montana telegraphic shoot reports as Dillon Gun Club members scored 73 in Sunday events across Dillon Lima and Butte. Ted Renfro and Herman Peterson posted 24'3 at Butte, Dr E G Free earned a notable win at the country club traps. Renfro tied for first 95x100 in the Butte registered shoot and also won a doubles event, with Roy Forrester and Pete Westergard among other leading Dillon gunners.

Beaverhead Dam Project Is Approved and Backed
Beaverhead county residents welcomed a Daly Spur dam plan as the Butte Chamber of Commerce endorsed the proposal at a Friday meeting. John G. Neal and J. L. Mayland urged state survey of the site with Dillon officials aiming to move Highway 91 and the Union Pacific line if feasible. The 190 foot dam would flood nearly to Armstead and store about 192,800 acre feet for seven non irrigation months while canals would distribute water to Beaverhead valley farms.

Wettest March in 30 Years Reported in Montana
March precipitation topped the record for 30 years in Montana with above normal snowfall, according to US meteorologist W. E. Maughan. The eastern division recorded 4.25 inches moisture in six months, Hebgen dam saw 4.87 inches, and March alone was 1.27 inches above normal. Soil moisture is higher than in many prior years due to recent rains and snows.
