Piano Ensemble to Perform Here May 18
Butte's famed piano ensemble directed by Ralph McFadden of Dillon will appear in concert here on May 18. The group first performs publicly in Butte on May 9 after two years with Miss Mary Castles and Miss Mary Hocking among eight pianos and 16 players. Participating artists come from Butte Anaconda Deer Lodge and Dillon, the permanent ensemble organized in 1934.

Ninety seven Beaverhead farmers received 9501.22 dollars for compliance under the 1937 agriculture conservation program per county agent Bernard Williams. Montana to Have State Show Herd
Purebred livestock breeders in Montana are urged to contact the state college extension specialist to enter animals in the fall state show herd. The herd will be shown at major fairs and expositions including Pacific International, Kansas City, Royal, and Chicago shows. Up to two or three strong animals per breeder will be chosen at the North Montana Fair in Great Falls August 1–6 by a qualified committee. Selected animals will remain in the herd to compete at the International Stock Show in Chicago in early December.

Youthful Car Bandits Find Tough Going
Roy Hunter 16 and Bill Martin 18 fled with a stolen Chevrolet coupe after it was snatched from Eddie Papetti’s Dillon residence. Sheriff Tex Martin of Gillette arrested them after a police short wave broadcast linked the car to the two youths. The car, found abandoned in Dillon, had been stolen in Grangeville Idaho, and a gas stealing outfit was recovered. FBI custody pursues federal charges for transporting a stolen car across state lines.

Dillon Matron Katie Banning Dies at Home in Dillon
Mrs. Katie Banning, longtime Dillon matron, died suddenly at her home after a heart attack Tuesday evening. Born September 7, 1887 in Fort Scott Kansas, she came to Beaverhead county in 1898 and leaves five children three daughters and a son Ralph, plus siblings and widowed husband earlier. She was a St James church member and the body lies at Brundage funeral home with no funeral plans announced.

Gorm Emil Rasmussen a 45 year old ranch hand at the Berg Christensen ranch was found dead in the bunkhouse with wrists and throat slit and body hanged from a rafter. Discovery by a hired man showed he died recently. He had been in poor health, born in Denmark June 10 1893, naturalized in 1933, a former Butte miner and long time resident of Limia. Funeral Tuesday at Brundage chapel with Rev A W Nelson officiating. interment Mountain View Cemetery. Coroner said inquest unnecessary.
