Dillon residents gathered at the Dillon Oil Co. plant to watch Mr. Robnett demonstrate small retorts producing oil and gas from shale. The crowd praised the display, and locals left convinced the Dillon Oil Co. will become a major Montana enterprise as interest grows among Dillon and nearby communities.
Offensive against gophers continues with statewide effort led by State College, reporting fewer rodents than last year and outlining broader control measures. Farmers note crop savings from the campaign as Carl Hanson of Armstead visits town.
Frank W. Ryan of the YMCA accompanying the 81st Division into the Argonne recounts Germans mud rats and disease as among the worst experiences. He notes gas critics and birds, rats, and stray animals reacting to artillery, and how nature seemingly protected soldiers until masks were on.

W H Cochran once owned a Dillon dry goods store and was early Beaverhead county legislator. He chaired the appropriation committee, had lived in Washington since 1907, and died at his home in Olympia. He left a wife two children two sisters and a brother.

Police this week report three arrests including two local beer hounds who became overly rowdy after drinking scarce alcohol. The third arrest involved a woman who gave the name Alice Fisher and was jailed for vagrancy in the city.

Dorothy Poindexter hosted a slumber party. Miss Bates spoke on building a new world at convocation. G Taylor vacationed at George Pyle ranch near Polaris. Ann Shields spent Easter at her ranch near Butte.
The big herd of 625 pure-bred registered Shorthorn cattle from the Brook Nook rarich, recently bought by the Gilbert Livestock Co, sold Monday to Joseph Turner of Myers Falls, Washington. Most cattle to be disposed of locally by the present owner.
A wartime editorial condemns pro German propaganda claiming Americans must support the Victory Liberty Loan. It argues the loan will pay the nation's debt of honor, bring home every khaki-clad soldier, and end pro German rhetoric by patriotic citizens, with the Liberty Bell as a symbol.
Ex governor B F White president of the First National Bank returned to Dillon Saturday afternoon from Red lands California where he spent the winter. He was accompanied by his daughter Miss Margaret.
Ray Maurer born September 11, 1888 in Bowling Green Indiana died April 20 from shell shock effects. He served in the U S Army in the Philippines and World War I including the 36th Division, wounded in 1918, and returned to the U S in 1919. Funeral set for April 27 at the Methodist church in Dillon.
C. L. Foster, a soldier and speculator, holds a Liberty bond at the Presidio in San Francisco. He receives payments from around the world, including recent funds from a Russian port, and buys Russian money at low margins in an inland city then exchanges it at higher rates at a coastal port before sending payments back to his bond.
The Treasury Department instructs postmasters in Montana not to pressure holders to retain war savings stamps. Stamps may be redeemed with ten days notice, and officials advocate voluntary holding to maturity while highlighting redeemability and steady value. The policy aims to avoid coercion and preserve trust in stamp redemptions.
A freight wreck at Mitchell near Idaho Falls blocked the Oregon Short Line on Monday night, delaying traffic about twelve hours. Tuesday noon arrivals were about ten minutes apart for northbound passenger trains, while the southbound train arrived around 10 30 P M.
