Rotary Cov. elect guest of honor at club banquet

Senator Frank Hazelbaker, recently elected governor of the Sixth Rotary district, was the guest of honor at the Dillon Rotary Club meeting at the Andrus hotel. Nearly full attendance, with discussions on promoting Beaverhead roads and tourism through publicity campaigns and maps.

Mrs Genevieve Paddock wife of ranchman Walter Paddock died Monday at her parents home from scarlet fever complications. Born Salmon Idaho 24 years ago she grew up in Dillon and married four years ago. Survived by husband two children parents Mr and Mrs H J Bostwick and brother Gerald. Funeral Wednesday at Brundage chapel Rev R O Shannon officiated. interment Mountain View cemetery.

Beaverhead Girls Congress Set With County Meet

The Beaverhead Federation of Women's Clubs will sponsor the eighth grade girls vocational congress in connection with the county track meet on May 6 and 7. Delegates arrive May 5 and attend an operetta that evening. the theme is What Can a High School Education do for the Rural Home with the slogan Better Education Better Homes. Girls must notify housing chair Mrs. D A Galt to arrange accommodations.

A. C. Sullivan Dies at County Farm

A. C. Sullivan, an inmate of the county farm, died Monday morning. He was over 60 and a resident for many years. He is survived by two sons in Spokane and a daughter. The funeral was held Thursday at 11 from Brundage chapel with Rev. H. B. Ricketts officiating and burial at Mountain View cemetery.

Grand Opening Saturday Dedicates New North Montana Bakery

The City Baking Company moves to a larger North Montana Street site and unveils a modern plant with new equipment including a $2500 Day mixer and an $8000 oven. It will produce Santost bread at 38000 loaves daily along with cakes pies buns and doughnuts while demonstrating sanitary processes and inviting public tours on Saturday April 16.

Captain J L Cochran Dies After Long Life Of Work

Captain James L Cochran died at his East Orr street home after weeks of illness. A Civil War veteran, he served as captain of the 151st Illinois infantry and later built bridges before homesteading in the Grasshopper area. Survived by Frances Cochran and son Frank W Cochran, he left a legacy tied to the Polaris mine and early Dillon history. Funeral held at Brundage chapel. body shipped to Macomb Illinois.

Dillon resident Frank P. Thompson dies after short illness

Dillon longtime resident Frank P. Thompson, 66, died Wednesday morning at about 9 o'clock in his Metlen hotel apartments after a brief pneumonia attack. Born in St Joseph Missouri, he lived in Dillon for 20 years and had no immediate relatives. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 30 at St James Episcopal Church, with burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Rural School Track Meet Delayed to May 6-7

Beaverhead County high school announces the track meet and scholarship contest moved from April 29 80 to May 6 7. Outside districts respond well while some schools yet to confirm. May 5 features a school operetta. arithmetical declamation writing and spelling contests accompany the track events.

Louis Schmittroth manager of City Bakings says he will not hold the proposed dance at the bakery on the opening Saturday night due to the B club dance at city hall Saturday evening.

Holy Week Services At Catholic Church

Holy week events listed include Services on Friday and Saturday starting 7 am with Masses on Easter morning at 8 and 10:30. Good Friday features Mass of the Presanctified, cross devotion, seven words, and Stations with a sermon. Confessions follow services. Easter blessings, baptismal fountain, and candle blessing. Choir to sing Concone mass. Lenten fast ends at Holy Saturday noon.

St James church observes Holy week with Good Friday services at 10 00 and 7 30 p m with Litany and prayers. Easter Sunday features 8 00 and 10 30 a m Holy Communion with special music by Dudley Buck and Oley Speaks. Children's Easter service at 3 30 p m followed by parish egg hunt. Mrs Willis directs junior choir and Mrs I D Olmsted leads egg hunt.

Easter services and pageant at Presbyterian Church

Morning 11 am choral service features music by Nevin Scott Birch and a Cologne Gesangbuch hymn. Soloists and chorus perform with Eastertide play by Sunday school at 7 30 pm in four scenes depicting the plot against Jesus denial at Peter the women at the tomb and the ascension with 20 plus actors in oriental costume.
