Flood control plans eyed for Beaverhead County
A Beaverhead county meeting in Three Forks discussed a federal flood control program with potential expenditures of 3 to 5 million dollars in the county. A proposed 150 million dollar national appropriation backs dam and reservoir projects on the Missouri river tributaries, including Lima dam expansion, Red Rock lakes dam, and Big Hole river sites for irrigation and flood storage. Esteemed Matron Marie Anderson Dies in Beaverhead
Marie Anderson beloved matron of the Beaverhead valley died last Friday evening after illness. Born in Denmark December 14, 1878 she came to the United States as a young woman and lived in Beaverhead county 17 years. Survived by her husband a son five step children and other relatives in Denmark. Funeral held at First Lutheran church Tuesday with Rev H B Hanson officiating and burial at Mountain View Cemetery.

Referendum 85 gains new backing for Montana election
Helena April 9 Referendum 85 would not raise auto owners’ costs nor alter the five cent gasoline tax. Attorney General L A Foot says the measure complies with constitutional requirements and funds highway construction from the gas tax revenues and federal aid. Montana volunteers rally to staff the May 5 statewide vote as $1 500 000 in warrants are issued over four years totaling about 23 million with savings projected at 7.5 million over the period.

Argenta district search crews look for Ed Jones a Berg Christendén employed herder who disappeared after leaving a suicide note. He had lost about a hundred head from a 2000 head flock driven to bedding near Rattle Snake Creek. Sheriff and under sheriff combed a ten mile radius but no trace found.
