Montana approves ten year state land leases for stockmen
Beaverhead representative Joe Metlen says the legislature authorized 10-year leases on state land replacing the previous five-year maximum. Two bills, approved March 24 by the state land board, enable long-term leasing aligned with grazing district policy and forest reserve aims. Metlen notes the change should stabilize stockmen operations and aid range conservation.
