O S Bird Victim of Gunshot Near Ten Mile House
The body of O S Bird known as Oley was found Sunday near a cabin on the Dillon Jackson road. Investigators say he shot himself with a 12 gauge shotgun. no inquest is planned. Born in Ohio in 1866, Bird lived in Beaverhead County for 51 years as a ranch hand and farmer. Last rites were held at Brundage chapel and interment followed. Invitations were issued for Howard Thornton's wedding in Oklahoma City on April 14.

Two major farm conferences are set in Dillon within 10 days. Beav erhead county agent Bernard Williams says the Be av erhead community committeemen will meet ranchers at city hall Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 4 pm to assist with 1939 crop program plan and estimates. Committeemen Luther Smith Walter Featherly and Martin Thompson will be present. A second conference on the new egg grading law is planned for April 12 and 13 at city hall with an egg grading school from 10 am both days led by Thomas J. McMaster and J Dan St John, inspectors of the dairy division.

Dr Simmons Draws Hitler Napoleon Parallels at Rotary
Dr George Finlay Simmons president of the State University at Missoula spoke to the Rotary Club Monday night on a comparison of Hitler and Napoleon. He traced European history, warned Britain to beware diplomacy and force, and described Napoleon’s downfall and St Helena. Arnold Clair performed violin solos as Ralph McFadden accompanied.

The Wilhelm Jensens marked their 25th wedding anniversary with a March 29 celebration at the I O O F hall in Dillon. Over 150 friends attended, including bridesmaid Olga Johnson and best man Ras Hansen from Butte, plus numerous out of town guests. The event featured old and new dances, music by Harry Nelson, Sorn Larsen, and Jimmy Fay's orchestra, a midnight dinner, and dancing into the early hours.

Jefferson Valley REA extends line with bids set
Contracts on an extension of the Jefferson Valley Rural Electrification Cooperative line will be let Monday April 10 at 10 o clock in Twin Bridges. The project runs through Beaverhead valley to Lima and north to Glen and Melrose with an additional extension to Lima approved March 9 by REA officials. An allotment of 94000 funds 80 miles of line serving 267 customers. Directors Blinn and Benson represent Beaverhead valley on the board.
