Beaverhead residents join statewide hunters for the duck season opener with a 70 day period from sunrise to sunset ending December 4. Daily limits cap at ten ducks with constraints on wood ducks redheads and buffleheads and a two bird limit on geese and brant. snow geese Ross geese and swans are restricted.

Mrs Walter Wilson Returns Home After Hospital Confinement
Mrs Walter Wilson has returned to her home after confinement in Barrett hospital due to a broken leg. Earl Minshaw, injured in a freight train accident at Spencer Idaho last week, was treated at the hospital and moved to the Union Pacific hospital in Pocatello.

Bear Subdued With Rope and Axe on Basin Ranch
Three cowpunchers Coy Rice Roy Sandy and John Troupe near Herman Peterson ranch in Big Hole basin cornered a large brown bear suspected of cattle killings. Rice roped the bear by the neck Sandy lassoed the hind foot and Troupe struck with an axe then killed the animal.

Death calls Walter Edwin Lloyd 70 a Dillon resident
Funeral services for Walter Edwin Lloyd 70 were held Saturday at Brundage chapel with Rev Belle Long officiating. Interment followed in Mountain View cemetery. Lloyd long a Beaverhead County resident born July 3 1872 in Gold Creek Montana married Elizabeth Parkinson in 1891. He moved from Bannack to Dillon in 1916 helped build Red Star garage and retired in 1939. He died in a Butte hospital after two weeks ill. Surviving family includes his widow two daughters and a son in law.

Sage Brush Fire Reported Sunday Near Emerson Hughes Ranch
Ben Martin forest ranger of the Lima district led a large group of volunteers called out about 1:00 PM last Sunday to combat a sagebrush fire on Clover Creek in the Centennial near the Emerson Hughes ranch. The fire, caused by a cigarette discarded by a fence builder, burned many acres but is believed under control with no further volunteers needed.
