Navy Cruiser To Visit in Dillon Friday
A U S Navy recruiting cruiser will visit Dillon next Friday as part of Navy Recruiting Month. The four man crew will show motion pictures, perform physical examinations, and offer transportation to Helena for enlistment after viewing the station on wheels. The mobile recruiting unit travels from Butte to Dillon then to Anaconda.

Fire destroys Stefonick ranch home Sunday
Dillon volunteers responded to a Sunday blaze at the Peter Stefonick ranch south of Dillon. Firefighters could not secure enough water to operate the pumper and only prevented spread. Mrs. Stefanick was away. ranch hands were in the fields. The cause was believed to be spontaneous combustion.

Air Force recruiter visits city to seek enlistments
Major William S. Bryan from the Army Air Force District Headquarters in Butte visited Dillon last Saturday to recruit for air corps enlistments. He cited urgent needs for skilled mechanics, radio men, armorers, and related specialists to keep war equipment in working order as air crews expand. He explained airmen, bombardiers, and navigators rise, but a fourth member keeps them flying. Enlistees would enter as privates for basic training under orders from the Commanding General.

Fires Reported in Beaverhead County Four Months
Thirty fires were reported at the Beaverhead county sheriff's office during June to September. Seventeen started by lightning, twelve by man. Three hundred ten acres burned across 92 call outs for firefighters.

Mrs Mabel Tritt Dies After Three Month Illness
Mrs. Mabel Tritt, born November 22, 1864 in Port Blakesley Michigan, died Friday night after a three month illness at Barrett hospital. Last rites were held at Brundage chapel with Rev. Belle Long officiating. Interment in Mountain View cemetery. She resided in Beaverhead county for 49 years and is survived by sister Mrs. Delia Nyhart of Seattle plus several nieces and brothers-in-law Tom Dillon and Rube Nampa and sister-in-law Mrs. Effie Coon of Dillon.
