Mrs Delena Porch longtime Beaverhead County resident died at Thornton hospital Missoula on Sept 17 She born Oct 11 1858 in Birmingham Ohio migrated to Montana via New York California and Cape Horn She leaves two brothers three sons a sister thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren The Dillon community heard of her death as campus preparations began for autumn quarter at Montana State Normal College with registration and freshman tests set to start after a weekend of faculty arrivals and a new athletics coach hire.

Offenders Sought in Dillon Arrested in Three States
Four men wanted in Dillon have been captured by officers in Idaho Utah and Texas and are held for Sheriff and H Temple. Ed Heberling Jim Lockhart and others were arrested on grand larceny tied to auto tires theft while B D Lee is held on forgery charges and Robert Nash faces theft of a $350 horse. Pete Loppie received a $20 fine on a third degree assault charge.

Dillon Matron Mrs Flynn Dies After Lingering Illness
Mrs. Thomas Flynn 77 a pioneer matron of Beaverhead County died Monday at her brother Pat Laden’s home after a long illness. Born July 31 1861 in Leitrim Ireland she came to the United States at 16 and lived 57 years in the county. Funeral from St Rose Catholic church with Requiem High Mass by Rev F X Lechner and interment in Mountain View Cemetery preceded by a rosary at the Laden ranch. She is survived by siblings Pat John Laden Dillon Rose Heavey and others in Ireland.

Dillon Gun Club members discussed improvements at the Country club Sunday including moving two traps about 100 yards west near skeet grounds leveling the grounds and removing the clubhouse with traps to create a better skyline. Velma Phillips named dean of home economics at Washington State
Former Dean of Women Velma Phillips is named dean of the college of home economics at Washington State College, succeeding Florence Harrison who resigned to join the University of Missouri. Phillips holds a PhB from the University of Chicago and MA and PhD from Teachers College Columbia. She led Ohio University’s home economics department for nine years and has taught at Lenox College Baker University Horace Mann School and the University of Utah summer session Spokane County News.

The fourth annual Beaverhead ram sale scheduled for next month is cancelled announced Saturday by County Agent Bernard Williams. Consignors cite market conditions and other circumstances. Scout Drive Seeks 550 for Boy and Cub Scouts
A community fund drive launched Monday aims to raise 550 to support Boy Scout and Cub Scout activities for the coming year. W G Gilbert noted the old structure serves 100 pupils, urging a new concrete and steel fireproof earthquake resistant building. The St James guild hosted an old fashioned spelling bee at the guild hall last Thursday night with the public invited. Harlan Harrison won the contest with Miss Mary L Innes second.
