Last shipment of wool leaves Dillon for the season as 1917 results show 3,326,662 pounds shipped. Growers gain 1,659,117.98 dollars more than 1916 with receipts higher. average price fifty cents. lowest thirty-six cents. highest sixty-four and a quarter cents.
Beaverhead county finished shipping its 1917 wool clip last Saturday with the final two carloads sent to the Boston market via the First National Bank warehouse. Receipts totaled 2,659,117.98 dollars, up sharply from 1916, with an average price around 50 cents and the highest price of 64 1/2 cents.
A Friday program at the Normal College offers an Alaska travelogue by Edgar C. Raine titled Land of the Midnight Sun. The talk includes colored views of glaciers, Eskimo culture, totems, auroras, and scenes from Alaska with two hundred views. Admission is 25 cents for students and 60 cents for others.
Fred Rife spent several days last week at the Isaac Rife ranch on Med we Lodge, likely visiting or staying on the property.
Biss Ora Ritz returned to Butte for the town festival on Friday following a several day stay in Dillon. Local organizers welcomed Ritz back and planned activities highlighting community ties and regional heritage.

James Wallace married Ruth Lounsbury at the Baptist church with Lon Lounsbury and Mary Lounsbury as attendants. The couple planned a honeymoon to Livingston and eastern points. Mrs Will Wilson hosted a miscellaneous shower for the bride last Tuesday.
C L Worth a prominent Beaverhead county wheat leader left last Sunday for St Paul to attend the farmers convention on the 19th and 20th. The meeting will discuss the wheat situation and the potential for establishing western primary markets. Local farmers and businessmen back the trip.
Mise Josephine King traveled from Salmon City to Dil Lon last week to meet residents and discuss community concerns at a local gathering. The visit highlighted cross city outreach and engagement with regional groups.
The Dillon city council passed a traffic ordinance to regulate driving under all conditions. It requires signaling on turns, no left curbward stopping, stopping near the curb, use of lights after dark, and speeds not exceeding twelve mph. No driving by under sixteen or intoxicated persons. bicycle riding on sidewalks is prohibited.
Frank Clark serving a thirty day sentence in the county jail attempted suicide by diving head first from a top gaited Gige to the cement floor. He landed on his back, life knocked out for a time, but is expected to recover.

Jay 5 Baker attended to Southern Montana Abstract company affairs in Virginia City Monday. Mr Garner, preparing county records for the new firm, near completion and will move his crew to Virginia City soon.
Mr and Mrs James Dodd arrived from Lakeview Monday afternoon and will spend several days in the city as guests.
J B Jones of Fort Worth Texas arrived in the city last Monday morning and will travel to the Big Hole basin to purchase horses for his company. He plans to spend time in the region buying stock.
A major sheep and cattle deal closed last week involving A. B. Johnson and Ben Dansie selling the Ames Sheep Company holdings on Grasshopper to Olsen & Edwards of Salt Lake City. The 2000 acre ranch includes leased lands a large sheep range and 14000 Hampshire sheep along with horses cattle and ranch equipment.
This morning word arrived of the death of Rowland Lane at Butte after a recent operation and relapse. His remains will be brought to Dillon this evening, with funeral services tomorrow at the Methodist church led by Rev. Corll and assisted by Rev. Humphrey. Rowland, son of H. P. Lane, moved to Dillon with his father last spring and left many warm friends.
Upward of a hundred head of Boomer McKinney horses, surplus to ranch needs, were driven to the Big Hole country in a band last Tuesday. After fattening they will be sold. A thousand head of cattle gathered from bare ranges were moved from Lemhi valley to the same pastures to conserve home feed while hay prices soar.
County authorities filed an injunction Monday to shut the Owl rooming house on North Montana Street. Plaintiffs name Mrs. Mary Newton Harry Kupfer James Patrick and Jean Lessie in the action seeking closure.
The second contingent of Beaverhead county drafted men, forty four volunteers, will depart for Camp Lewis at American Lake tomorrow afternoon. Led by Bruce A. Risley, the group gathered at the courthouse at one o clock for a patriotic farewell with Gov. B. I. White presiding. A Dillmont park dance and noon closes of stores honor the event.
Bert Carlyle was seriously wounded yesterday morning when hunting partner A. H. Little shot him at Selway sloughs south of town. Carlyle crouched behind a bush waiting for ducks about thirty feet from Little, and the shotgun blast tore into his back. He was taken to Magnus hospital.
Alexander McNeill was bound over to the district court yesterday on a robbery charge. His bond was set at 5008 dollars. The accused is named for robbing James Sweet at the Owl Room boarding house last Monday.
Ed Alcorn aged about 45 died last Monday morning at the county poor farm after days of illness from quinsy. The remains will be buried at the same site.
Miss Helen Baker returned last Thursday from Marysville where she visited with Miss Victoria Belor. Belor accompanies her to Dillon. she attends the Normal College at this place.
Mr and Mrs S S Carruthers returned from Portland where they visited their son Roy who enlisted in the army and is stationed at Vancouver barracks. They report the Dillon boys in good health and enjoying army life though eager to see action overseas.
Clarence Wall brought two Mexican men, Frank Castro and I Morando, from Lima. The trio is held in district court on a first degree assault charge for attacking a time-keeper in the railroad yards at Lima with butcher knives.
Mrs Miller a pioneer of the Centennial valley died at Lakeview yesterday due to old age. Funeral was held today at Lakeview conducted by Rev H G Humphrey of the Methodist church. She is survived by several sons and daughters living in the county south end.
George Lutell also known as George L Mouller died last Thursday morning at the county jail from pneumonia after falling ill days earlier. He faced grand larceny charges tied to alleged thefts of several bags of wool last summer. Interment occurred at Mountain View cemetery with burial costs borne by relatives.
Ten youths from this section left for Missoula to take the 20th Engineers examination after enlisting in the forestry battalion. Names listed include Walter Jones Walter Siria Perry Armstrong William C Smith George McMurrick Howard Welton Hilza McCafferty Walter Korb Percy Lamm and Charles Kutzleb. About fifty Beaverhead county youths have joined the forestry battalion.
Harvey Sullivan of Bloody Dick was struck by a car driven by James Blair last Sunday. He stepped into the path of the vehicle at a slow turn. glare on the windshield blinded Blair briefly. The accident was deemed unavoidable and Sullivan was injured but not seriously.
