Four year old Glenchild named George E. Oster Jr. accidentally discharged a 30-30 rifle at his parents home wounding two fingers and other hand damage. The gun stood in a corner when the boy cocked and fired. He was taken to Community Memorial hospital in Butte for emergency first aid.

Former Dillon Men Reunite 2800 Miles For Dinner Date
Three former Dillon men kept a 25 year promise by reuniting for a birthday dinner in the Metlen Hotel dining room. Derald Gills flew from Chicago for his 50th birthday, Theodore Holcomb traveled from Vallejo by train, and George McMurich has stayed in Dillon to hold the fort since their youth friendships formed in the 1930s. The trio first dined together Sept 17, 1932, at the hotel with a cake and family atmosphere, and agreed to reconvene when Gills reached 50.

Western Montana College plans a busy start to the new academic year with orientation on Monday September 23. Incoming students and families arrive Sunday afternoon September 22 for a Welcome Howdy assembly and campus tours. The week includes Traditions Assembly, upperclass advising, a dance, and social events including an exhibition football game and a Friday game with Westminster College marking Welcome Week. Registration begins Tuesday and classes start Wednesday.
