Brakeman on U P Killed in Accident
Gordon Elliott Alexander Jr. acting brakeman on an east bound freight was killed early Monday near Barretts nine miles south of Dilnm. He was flagging the rear of his train when a west bound freight passed. his body was found along the track. The inquest is not expected. He leaves a widow Kathleen and twins aged eight, with parents, sisters, and brothers. Funeral is Friday at 9:30 from White Funeral chapel in Butte.

Nonagenarian Adelaide T Tib bles dies at Lima home
Mrs. Adelaide Tibbles aged 90 died after a brief illness at the home of her daughter in Lima last Thursday night. Born in 1856 in Rowlesburg West Virginia, she married in 1874 and had eleven children, five living. Survived by two daughters and three sons, one son died in 1946. Interment at Macedonia, Iowa.

Moose Sightings Reported Near Dillon Riverfront
Moose roam within city limits along Beaverhead River. Tracks first appeared along the riverbank before Marian Pyeatt, clearing brush with a bulldozer, spotted a full antlered moose feeding on birch leaves. The herd, possibly a bull cow and calf, has since been seen by several residents.

Beloved Dillon Teacher Claudia Faust Dies After Illlness
Mrs. Claudia Faust longtime Beaverhead county high school faculty member dies in a Butte hospital following a minor operation. The Russell Minnesota native taught physical education directed dancing and dramatics for girls and sponsored the Beaver high school publication in recent years. She was active in Red Cross Episco pal church Alma Matrons and dancing revues. Born December 17 1909 she moved to Montana as a child and later married Homer M Faust editor of the Dillon Examiner who died last May. Funeral arrangements were to be announced by Dokkin funeral home Bozeman.

William McLaughlin known as Hollywood Bill died of a heart attack Saturday afternoon while walking up an alley behind the First National Bank. About 60, he came from California thirty years ago and lived on local ranches near Jackson. No relatives could be located. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Brundage chapel with Rev. J. Thompson Baker presiding, burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Improvements Noted as State College Opens Term
The opening of the fall term at Montana State Normal college reports completion of several improvements. 64 new fluorescent library fixtures replace the old system, designed by Art Watkins of Montana Power. A new concrete dining room floor will receive modern tile, and an oil burner tank excavation replaces a coal stoker in the heating plant. A new gymnasium roof is planned with bids advertised, and 200 chairs will arrive in October for the auditorium. The biology laboratory gains new shelves and tables for specimens brought by Jacob Bauer M.S., a new science faculty member and Montana State College graduate who studied at George Washington Medical.

New Reservoir Construction Approved by City Council
At a special city council meeting Morrison Engineering of Helena won authority to build a 450000 gallon reservoir expanding storage of the water system. The 400000 gallon current tank loses about 350000 gallons daily to overflow due to inadequate storage. John Morrison consulting engineer prepared plans to add storage for the estimated 4100 residents served.

Beaverhead and Madison county delegates plus other district members met with state and federal highway officials to learn why no contracts had been let in 14 months. They were told Big Hole road near Jackson was changed in specifications, now set for a 21 foot oiled road, and that 6.7 miles of Dillon to Point of Rocks would be let when specs are complete with $625000 allocated.

Ranch Worker Held On Charge Issuing Fictitious Check
Kenneth Gordon Swaney, 33, a transient ranch hand at the James R. Freeman ranch near Armstead, was arrested after cashing a $33 check at a local bar. The check bore the name James L. Freeman and was recovered by Sheriff Paul Temple. Swaney says he was authorized by his employer to write and cash checks but remains held for investigation.
