Renfro Leads Red Rock in Helena Trap Shoot Victory
Red Rock Montana team led by Ted Renfro won the first Cliff Stump trophy trap shoot at Helena Gun Club. The squad shot 705 of 750 birds amid high wind, beating Butte and copper mining city teams. Thirty five-man teams from 16 cities competed with Hamilton and Chateau also placing high.

Institutional On Farm Training for Veterans Program

Dillon's city council approved an ordinance taxing all slot machines in fraternal and non profit clubs at $12.50 per year in addition to county and state assessments. The meeting also granted police salaries from $175 to $200 monthly and raised librarian salaries. John Morrison Helena engineer outlined water supply plans and was tasked to prepare detailed proposals later. D Graham Great Falls engineer presented sewage disposal plans. Two and a half blocks of water main on North Railroad Avenue were approved.

About 160 World War II veterans cashed terminal leave bonds totaling over $31,000 at Dillon banks on the opening day, Tuesday Sept 2, with payments tapering off since. Dr Grant E Finch of Danbury Connecticut died August 31 according to Dillon reports. He served as superintendent of Dillon public schools for many years and devoted his life to education. His son Robert Finch and daughter Helen Finch attended the funeral in Dillon. Interment followed at the Finch family home in Fayette Iowa.

Frank Blanc aged 68 known as Frenchy was found dead in his Metlen hotel room Tuesday. He lived in Beaverhead valley with recent ranch jobs and was born March 17, 1879 in Saint Michel France.
