Woolgrowers Receive Almost Moon and Half for County
Beaverhead County woolgrowers earned 1 439 102.39 for all fleeces in the county during the season ending September 8. The total clip reached 2 855 280 pounds with the highest price paid at 60 cents. Most of the clip was shipped to Boston while a small portion remained on consignment. Governor B F White closed the bumper season last Saturday as the last bag of wool left the warehouse.

The Purcell Orchestra, a leading band in the state and regular Odeon music provider in Butte, will give a dance at Dillmont park tonight. They recently furnished the harvest festival dances at Wisdom to capacity crowds with positive reception. Hunting Season Opens With Great Cannonading
The open season for ducks, waterfowl, and grouse began with heavy shooting. Local reports note abundant ducks but early hunting drove them off. Burglar Breaks Window to Steal Revolver
A burglar broke a plate glass window at Hughes and McCaleb to reach a revolver valued under thirty dollars. He cut a round hole in the large glass but took only that one gun despite other firearms nearby. No arrests have been made.

Beaverhead County Commissioners Meet in 1919 Session
Beaverhead county officials convened September 8 1919 with Chairman McKnight and two commissioners. They ordered redemption of the 1900 bond issue in 1920 and directed surplus funds to the high school fund. Road issues near Hermann crossing and Armstead were discussed along with road petitions and viewing assignments. Resignations of county health officers accepted and Dr F M Poindexter appointed. Jos G Erwin dies after long illness in San Diego. Remains shipped to Dillon and funeral held at the Methodist church with Rev H G Humphrey officiating. Burial in Mountain View. He was born May 18 1849, married Jennie R Stewart June 13 1880, leaving five children Myra Josephine Burr Dante Fay and a large circle of friends in Dillon.

Mystery surrounds Fish Trap shooting near Anaconda
In the Big Hole basin at Fish Trap 33 miles southwest of Anaconda a shot hit Mrs. W L Soper in her bedroom around 11 oclock Thursday night. The horse in the stable was also shot. Dr Buchen treated the leg wound. the attacker remains unknown. Undersheriff Henault and Deputy Green investigated but made no arrests.

Forest Fire at Elkhorn Sends Campers Fleeing
A fire in Elkhorn’s heavy timber started from a root catching fire and burning a dead stump. The road crew had been burning underbrush for days and fought the blaze, which was controlled in about a day. Campers fled briefly in fear of spread.

Nurse Bertha Jones Visits Dillon After War Service
Miss Bertha Jones, among the first American women to answer the colors, arrived in Dillon last Thursday as a guest at the Craig Cornell home. The professional nurse left the United States in 1917 with the first Red Cross unit and served two years at a base hospital in France. She was on duty in a field hospital on the western front during bombardment, later with the occupational army until June 1. Red Cross packages were sent to her by the local chapter, and she distributed them to the troops overseas.

Serious Charges Made Against Big Hole Man
Anaconda Sept 12 Ed Calvert a prominent rancher in the Big Hole basin was arrested at his home by Sheriff Hartsell and State Stock Inspector Collins on a complaint by the inspector. Calvert is held on two charges butchering and selling without a license and refusing to produce the hide of a beef allegedly sold in Anaconda last Tuesday.
