The Rush of Life and a Car Tale from 1948 Kansas
An elderly narrator reflects on American haste and its perils. He recalls a personal tale with a Morgan horse named Becky Sharp and a Ford, illustrating how hurried driving led to near misses and one costly mechanical error. The piece ends noting a street accident caused by a hurried group crossing in front of his car.
