Worthless Check Artist Sentenced
Alfred Day was arrested last Saturday by Chief Dan Mooney and Sheriff Paul Temple on a charge of making a fictitious instrument in writing for payment of money. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced by Judge Lyman H. Bennett to four years in the state prison, and was taken to Deer Lodge Tuesday morning by Undersheriff Boyd Quick. Day, a transient, cashed two checks found to be worthless.

A Beaverhead county delegation attended the Montana 4-H congress at Montana State College in Bozeman from Sept 13 to 16. The event drew 423 members and 70 4-H leaders statewide with a citizenship theme. Driver forfeits bond in DWI case on Montana street

Body of Roy Wellington Returned for Burial
The body of Pfc. Roy E. Wellington son of Mrs Isabelle Wellington of this city is being brought home for burial. He enlisted in February 1940 and was captured in May 1942 after Corregidor fell. He died February 7 1943 in a Japanese POW camp after surviving the Bataan march. A brother Pvt. Wallace Wellington was killed in action in North Africa on May 6 1943. Body of Pfc. Harry Spehar Returns for Burial
The body of Pfc. Harry Spehar killed on Leyte October 27, 1944 is returning home for burial and will arrive in Dillon next Wednesday morning. Inducted January 29, 1942 in Vallejo California he had worked at Mare Island prior to enlistment and was a Beaverhead County native. Survived by his mother Mrs Lucy Spehar three sisters in California and brothers Joe and John Spehar of Dillon. Funeral arrangements not completed.
