The Beaverhead Sportsmen's Association warns sportsmen to exercise utmost caution when hunting on ranchers lands as upland bird seasons begin and migratory birds follow. Cattle and livestock losses have occurred in past years, and ranchers are largely not posted. Migratory waterfowl should be plentiful on Beaverhead waters while upland birds are scarce. fishing remains good on the Beaverhead and Big Hole rivers as Loch Levins and natives are set for planting.

Warren Sheppard Dies After Wounding at His Garage
Warren W. Sheppard, 59, died at Barrett hospital at 5 p m last Wednesday after a bullet wound through his head. A coroner's inquest Friday found the death caused by a bullet wound in a personal crisis. He was found sitting in the street in front of the garage he operated around 11.

Forgery Case Leads to One Year Prison Term
R E Clark age 49 pleaded guilty in district court to a forgery charge and was sentenced to a year in the state penitentiary by Judge Henry G Rodgers. Clark was arrested Aug 8 for cashing a check bearing a fictitious signature of Blaz Sugar Centennial valley rancher and was moved to Deer Lodge Thursday by Sheriff Paul H Temple. Joe Narango received 60 days for petty larceny from a tourist's car. He is serving the term at the county jail. Ben Breece also faced petty larceny charges and 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to stealing cooking utensils from the Eric Hansen ranch. The real name suspected as Arch Swaford. Phil Lyons of Lima reported the theft of his 1939 black Chrysler coupe license 18-1735.

Beaverhead county farmers may classify farms as non allotment wheat farms under a 1940 AAA change. Operators may grow wheat as hay or cover crops while participating in the conservation program. Straw Pile Burns On Cornell Ranch South of Dillon
A stack of new straw on the Roscoe Cornell ranch south of Dillon was destroyed by a fire of undetermined origin Saturday afternoon. The threshing crew returned to work at 1 PM after lunch when the stack ignited at the crown. Firefighters and crew moved equipment to prevent spread.
