The ram show and sale is scheduled for next Monday at the Beaverhead county fairgrounds with over 250 rams entered from breeds including Columbia Rambouillet Hampshire and Crossbreds. Auctioneers L B Sedgwich of White Sulphur Springs and consignors such as Montana Agricultural Experiment Station Mt Haggin Livestock Roy T Haines and others are listed. Livestock buyers from a wide region are expected as entries arrive this week.

Ranch Hand Fatally Hurt In Accident
Clarence Lund a 48 year old Beaverhead county ranch hand since April fell from a hay stack at the Hans Anderson ranch in the Blacktail district south of Dillon. He died en route to Dillon after being seen to fall fifteen feet by coworkers. Survived by his mother and sisters in Mobridge South Dakota and by brothers in Glennon South Dakota. Body sent to Mobridge for funeral and interment.

Beaverhead gunners paced the field at the Butte Trap and Skeet club meet near Dillon. Tige Talent led with 91x100 in singles while Ted Renfro topped singles with 49x50 and won the handicap 24x25. Other shooters included Paul Schwab 89 and Pete Westergard 89 in the 100-third event.

Beaverhead Rodeo profits to be distributed to stockholders
The Beaverhead Rodeo Association reports ticket receipts from Dillon rodeos on September 2 and 3 totaling 6742.15 with about 2000 profit after expenses. Two dances at City Hall raised 731.45. Herman Peterson to set date for stockholders dinner to decide distribution and potential arena and equipment improvements.

Henneberry Ranch Brush Fire Threatens Outbuilding Row
A grass and brush fire at Archie Henneberry's ranch six miles north of Armstead endangered barns and sheds as high winds drove the flames. The Dillon volunteer fire department and Armstead residents rushed to the scene to battle the blaze before the wind shifted and carried flames away from structures.

Forger Sentenced to Three Years in State Prison
James Sullivan a 54 year old ranch cook pled guilty to forgery before Judge Lyman H Bennett and was sentenced to three years in state prison. He was jailed after cashing a 127.30 check forged with Roy Beller’s endorsement from the Pahnish Brothers ranch. He distributed part of the proceeds among companions before arrest by City Policeman Jack Knight. Co Counsel Lew Brundage prosecuted.

Veterans Placed in Jobs Rise in Montana August
Montana offices of the United States Employment Service placed 432 veterans in jobs in August, a 10 percent rise from July. Of those, 12 were in the Dillon office. Baker notes many veterans are returning to ranch work or business, with 674 applicants that month. Total visits reached 2,777 versus 1,293 a year earlier.

Miner Hurt in Elkhorn Mill Belt Accident
Perry Goodwin aged 62, longtime Elkhorn mine employee above Wise River, suffered a broken leg after getting tangled in a running belt at the mill around 5 PM Monday. He was treated by Dr. Harve Stanchfield in Dillon and then moved to a Butte hospital. Darwin Peterson, 15, son of Alfred and Mrs. Peterson, fractured an elbow later Monday evening after a fall from a horse in Dillon while attending school.

First Ford Gifted to President Truman
Henry Ford I presented a Ford super-deluxe tudor sedan to President Harry S. Truman as a personal gift from Henry Ford.
