Beaverhead county high school vocational agriculture instructor Joe Krall announced judges for theYouth fair to be held at the sales barn in the fair grounds next Saturday. Registration Begins Slow in Beaverhead County
Local officials estimate few young men will register for the peace time draft with only 19 registering on the first day and 27 more by morning totaling 46. The first registrant was Eugene Leroy Erb of Dillon. Registrar A. F. Waldorf and clerk J. C. Fuller handle the office. Gov. Ford has not announced replacements for Erwin and Donovan. Motorist fined $100 for DUI in police court

Beaverhead county taxpayers face a 1948 tax bill of 509 119, up from 499 966 in 1947 due to added property and higher valuations. The state receives 30 682, university fund 21 104, hospital bond 3 015, livestock fund 6 563, with the county counting 206 768 for general, roads, bridges, poor fund, county fair, weed control and airport. A five cent sheep tax aids predatory animal control, yielding 4 681. County school levies total 227 357 with 82 312 for the high school and 145 045 for elementary schools.

Prominent Physician Dr Poindexter Called Home
Prominent Dillon physician Dr Frederick Marcellus Poindexter died at Barrett hospital after a long illness. Born 1875 in Canyon City Oregon, he came to Dillon in 1881, served in World War I, studied in Vienna, and earned wide acclaim in the medical field. He was active in the American Legion, Beaverhead lodge, and St James Episcopal church. He is survived by a Honolulu brother, sisters in Dillon and California, six nieces, and other relatives. Albert Julian Dies at 77 After Lengthy Farm Stay
Albert Julian 77 died Monday at the county farm where he had been a patient since June. A Welsh native born March 31, 1871, he came to America as a young man and spent 26 years at Lewistown before settling 24 years in the local community working on ranches. No relatives have been located and the body remains at Brundage funeral home.

John W. Stetchen, 33, of New Britain Connecticut, an extra gang worker for U P railroad out of Lima, was sentenced to 18 months in a federal prison. He was arrested by Marshall Larry Peterson in the act of burglarizing the Lettatts at Lima on August 14. He pleaded guilty in federal court in Great Falls before Judge Charles Ne Pray.
