Hereford Bull Sale Sets High Prices in Annual Event

Walter Stine of Enterprise Oregon paid the top price of 1500 for Futurity Champion bull from Lewis and Jarboe of Bozeman at the Hereford bull sale. Open Class Champion also from Bozeman sold for 875 to Boney Creekmore of Alder. Attendance weak with 31 of 50 sold for 13769.90 total and 444.19 average. Reserve Champion from Clyde Park brought 560 to W. J. Garrison. Open Class Champion from Becker Hereford of Wilsall not sold.

Banks and offices Closed on Election Day in Dillon

Dillon banks state and county offices bars taverns and the state liquor store will be closed next Tuesday for election day. Bars reopen after polls close at 8 pm. The post office and federal offices and Dillon business houses will operate as usual.

Beaverhead Democrats Rally Attacks Republicans In City Hall

Beaverhead county Democrats held a Thursday rally at City Hall with Lee Metcalf Arnold Olsen Paul Cannon and others denouncing the GOP platform and criticizing Governor Aronson. Metcalf warned against reclamation cuts while Olsen attacked gambling law and off lease oil issues amid a question period and social hour with coffee and doughnuts.

GOP Candidates Sweep 8 of 10 State Offices in Mock Vote

Beaverhead County High School held a student straw vote awarding eight of ten state and national offices to Republicans, led by George M. Gosman for lieutenant governor with 204 votes to Paul Cannon's 62. Democrats Metcalf and Murray won the two contested offices, while 28 of 298 ballots were discarded for improper markings. the results reflect a student-led, nonbinding election.
