Rifle Range Trials and Training Reflections at Fort Lewis
Gilbert Hilde writes about grueling days at Fort Lewis focusing on rifle practice with the Springfield 1903 and scarce Girand rifles, marking scores from 200 yards, and the mix of rapid and slow fire. He notes rain, new gear, a prank in the barracks, and the year's vaccination and blood typing to prepare for battlefield needs.
